Monthly contract

Hi
This is my first post so please be kind.
My children have monthly contract phones with vodaphone that allow them 300 minutes of calls and unlimited txts.
Any additional calls over 300 minutes or browsing etc will cost extra.
Is there any way via the phoes or via the supplier that we can limit the usage to only the free calls and txts and therfore avoid additional costs?

Pretty sure you can text the network to get an update on remaining allowance. I'm not sure you can lock the phone at the end of the allowance, I'd just ring customer service. In the long run I'd have a weekly check via text, that way you can take neccessary action.

My 12 year old also has a contract with 300 minutes and unlimited texts, but with Orange. We registered his account online and I have the password so can check his usage on a regular basis. I've just checked it a few minutes ago and can see calls/texts up to 10:00 a.m. yesterday. I would think you could do something similar with Vodafone.0

Some networks do offer caps/limits but there's always a disclaimer that it's not guaranteed to prevent additional charges.
For some chargeable actions, your network does not receive immediate billing, so it cannot be updated in real time.
In short, you should not rely on the network to cap your bills. If additional charges are a big issue, then PAYG is the best way to ensure spending is kept under control.0 -
Hey stringy007!
It's great to hear that your children have come onto our network! There isn't any way of capping the price plan so that they can not be charged over and above for any usage. However, saverstevedevon is right! If you dial 44555 from the handsets it will tell you how many minutes and texts have already been used for the month. If you are registered online with us then you can also log onto My Account and under Unbilled Calls it will also show you there.
Best wishes,
