Sold our Nintendo Wii last week on gumtree, it went for a really good price, I would have got appr. the same on ebay but at least no seller fees/postage cost. It went on the 3rd day, there were a couple of offers on the first and second but OH did not want to negotiate and waited for the right buyer.0

I've used Gumtree to buy bigger things such as a massive fish tank so that I didnt have to pay postage etc. Smaller items dont seem to shift.
Let us know how you get on.

My son took a whole lot of stuff to the charity shop yesterday, I popped in today on my way past and they have sold most of it at what I think were quite high prices.
Bother, I obviously don't have the nack with Gumtree and will store what I can and charity shop the rest. At least my house will look tidier.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. soolin - have you looked at www.preloved.co.uk? I have personally sold more bits on gumtree than preloved but I have various alerts set up on preloved for items that I'm specifically looking for which I find really useful. Worth a look anyway.0

Don't forget the puppies, kittens and stolen bikes :rotfl:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

You probably took the right route Soolin, given that you needed to shift the stuff quickly. Your only mistake was checking the prices the charity shop sold the stuff for!!
I do try and sell my larger or higher value stuff on Gumtree before trying eBay. Most of the time I do get more money than from eBay, but it's not quick and its not for the faint-hearted. There's many out there who want your gear (if they want it at all) for half your asking price, regardless of how low that price is, even if it's less than eBay.
For me it's waiting for an offer at a reasonable price (can take weeks) and even then I hardly ever complete the sale if I don't pick up the phone by the third ring and deliver that day.I've used Gumtree to buy bigger things such as a massive fish tank so that I didnt have to pay postage etc. Smaller items dont seem to shift.
Same here - I don't even bother listing smaller low value stuff any more or anything even slightly complicated. I sold a camera on Gumtree, but the lenses had to go on eBay.frivolous_fay wrote: »Don't forget the puppies, kittens and stolen bikes :rotfl:
Also very good if you want to donate your high-value stuff to West Africa for free - I get a lot of interest from there.
As to the puppies - I've found myself listed as a seller of non-existent puppies! Some joker put up an ad for puppies urging anybody interested to ring up any time, 24-hour response - using my mobile number and another innocent party's landline. Wish I got as much interest in my real stuff as I got for the non-puppies!! :rotfl:0 -
I have. A few years ago now though.
I have sold;
A pushchair, a pair of speakers and a table. All went for good amounts. The good thing about Gumtree is that because it is free you can keep reposting the ad until you get a bite. Good luck!0 -

I'm too impatient it's a real problem. I leave it until the week before I go on holiday - panic at the stuff lying around and just want it gone.
No doubt I will regret some of it later as it would have sold on ebay, but at least I can get into the front door now!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
