So sorry, they become family don't they? let yourself grieve.
  • So sorry to hear about this, but at least he didn't have prolonged suffering and you had a lovely last day.

Aw man I am so very sorry in hearing about Bob's passing.Having lost Orbit the Cat just over a year ago I know how you're feeling.Let it all out & then go and get another pup. That's what I did & it helped immensly getting Daisy Cat.

RIP Bob,play hard on the happy hunting grounds.

If we had to choose a way to go I'm sure we would wish for something similar. No prolonged illness or pain.Your precious dog made the decision easy to stop any further suffering and saved you what many have to go through when it's not so clear cut.

In time you will be able to look back and smile at the great life you shared, and your memories will dull the grief you feel now.I thought I would never get over my two dogs when i lost them, but now i can look at their photos and feel only joy that they had such a good life.

I hope you feel better soon.RIP Bob.

It was very quick no warning at all ,he was such a lovely dog ,gave alot of pleasure to people in his younger days as a pat dog visiting the elderly in nursing homes ,I can honestly say he was the best dog I have ever had in my life .

Very sorry to hear about your loss - it's awful. Still, he had a good life right up to the last minute with no loss of quality of life and that's what's important.

We lost one of our cats about a year ago, she died after a short illness (about 1 week) and I still miss her terribly. But I do take comfort from the fact that she was only poorly for a short time and most of that she slept. We didn't know what was wrong with her - took her to the vet on Saturday, they took a blood sample and were going to send it to the lab on Monday. Over the weekend she deteriorated, took her back to the vets on Monday morning -they put her on a drip and she perked a bit by lunch time but sadly, she then died in the afternoon. They then found out that she had a growth wrapped around her heart so they could have not done anything. I'm just glad that she did not suffer for long.
When the time is right - give a good home to an unwanted dog (or two) from a rescue centre. There are too many there waiting. I'm sure Bob would approve too!

It’s a wonder we ever heal from this but we do. One day your saddness will be filled with the most special memories of Bob. He must have been one lucky dog to be so loved by you.
Yes, our animals are lucky to be so loved but I really feel that we are the lucky ones to have their unconditional love and the happy memories that they give us.
May time help to heal you as you mourn Bob. You have a lot of love in your heart and he left knowing that. He will be in your heart forever. Take care of yourself.
