Oil Rip Off?

I orderd 1000 litres of heating oil, and paid for it at an agreed price 3 weeks ago. When it was delivered the driver thought I wanted 1500 litres and began to fill up my tank. He realised his mistake and stopped the fill. By then he was 93 litres over. He told my boyfriend that they would just bill us for the extra. I had a contract for 1000 litres, which I had paid for and they are holding me responsible for an extra 50 quid because of their mistake. I struggled to find the money for 1000 litres, and certainly didnt want more at the most expensive time of the year. I asked for the oil to be removed by the company and they said no anyone any suggestions as to what I can do. Do I have any rights?

Just remember oil is now approaching £1/litre. You agreed the price 3 weks ago.

Send the driver a bottle of wine for being so thoughtful.

Seriously you are the winner here (at current prices).

You are so lucky to be able to shop around. Think of bulk lpg users who are tied into 2 year contracts and have had price increases rained on them like a monsoon!!
  • Just tell them you are not paying for their mistake. pay for the 1000 litres & see what they say. Can't see them sending a lorry to remove 93 litres.
if i had known then what i know now

I can see them blacklisting him though.
