So, will you now answer it? What am I absolutely sure of, seeing as I work for British Gas?

Or by 'rumbled' do you mean 'I have nothing to contribute as usual and only want to muddy the waters here?'

Rumbled because you have broken the rules of the forum and you absolutely know it. You have a vested interest and repeatedly refused to reveal it. Correct? Who cares how far down the food chain you are in BG, you still have them to thank for your livelihood and in a thread that you have defended them (rightly or wrongly) it is absolutely imperative that you make the readers aware of the FACT you work for British Gas.

Fact is you have been answering MikeM effectvely posing as just another member of the public in a thread in which he has been questioning BG's way of doing things. You at no time told him you work for British Gas. You can bleat all you want but that is fundamentally wrong.
    Bleat.
    OK, you feel that way.

You dodged this one earlier too (as did your previous incarnations).
What have I said that has been twisted by my employer?

Now I know what I SHOULD have searched the forums for - 'gas sculpting' !

Never knew anything about this topic until tonight.

I am not a regular MSE poster but was so perplexed by my gas bill and the very strange response to my telephone call to them.

I thought that this forum might be a suitable place to enquire and seems that it is.

Only one supplier does sculpting, but Millie will get upset if I try to help...

Rumbled....:p If it's one thing that gets my goat it's a hypocrite.

This from someone who posts as 1carminestocky, operastar, carespress, MilicentBystander and no doubt other names all in support of UW.

    Unbelievable!!

BG sent me an email two weeks ago reminding me to submit a meter reading - which I did immediately ! Bill arrives a few days later by post and is about half of what I calculated. I notice that it is an ESTIMATED bill.

Telephone and am told that 'they didn't receive my reading' and that this will 'save me money' ! I say that I would prefer to pay for the gas I have actually used at todays prices - not the prices after the price increase on 10th Dec.

Mention this at work and three other people have experienced exactly the same thing.

So are BG doing this on purpose to make people pay for yesterdays gas at tomorrows prices ?

I should add that previously they have always received and used my readings.

What I don't understand is why when you phoned didn't they correct the bill to your readings. Presumably, that was the purpose of ringing?

That thread is well worth a read. Very eye-opening. Mind you, it's clear that there are several industry patsies on there too (and they don't mention that fact, either.)

I moved to British Gas a while ago and my Electricity payment was estimated at £18 a month, previously £35. I knew it was too low, but what the heck. (I cleared all debts in full when I moved last year) Now I am in debt again but have the money in the bank to cover my now debt of over £300

    Statement in October read:

If you continue to use energy at the same rate over the next 12 months, we forecast your cost will be 0.00

Your electricity account is in debit

We recommend you bring your account up to date and pay off the balance

If you choose not to do this, your payments will be £18. this will include £18 a month to ensure this amount is cleared by the end of your payment plan

Statement says I have used £147.71 per quarter, meter is read regularly

Well, I'd rather gain interest in my bank account than pay it off now! But not everyone will have money in the bank and will just look at what they have been asked to pay monthly

Whatever is wrong with British Gas!

Hey folks - please don't argue on my behalf !

BG did note my reading when I telephoned and sent me a corrected bill by post. But sadly not before the original one arrived, which, upon opening sank my feeble heart.

I then realised what had happened and awaited the corrected bill which kindly gave me a few more days grace on the payment date.

Oh thank goodness, a happy ending.

Look what you did, not mentioning that in the first place.

Let's hope for more  soon. :rotfl:
