Undergrad Support group

Ok there is a PhD support group maybe we could have an undergraduate thread where people can post there concerns, worries and maybe things they are stuck on concerning there course.

I know for me personally i have only recently gone to Uni after being out of education for a while so i know nothing.

Little things are baffling me so maybe this is the right place to ask for help and get things off your chest.

Ok first is first.

if you have a 1,000 word essay to write, how many words would you write in the introduction, discussion and conclusion. Can you tell i am new at all this??

Thanks Tallulah

I was advised by a lecturer that the introduction should ideally be 10% of the word count and the same with the conclusion. So 80% on the rest of it!

I would think 150- 200 words for each of the intro and conclusion.

I am not so sure, writing the intro first can sort of order the direction where your thoughts are going.

I am knackered! We have to be in at 8am (means getting up at 6am) and I'm not usually home again until 8pm. Often don't even get time for lunch...*

    ZzzzZZZzzzzz

*But I LOVE it!!! Just not sure how long I can carry on like this!!!

I also always write the introduction last. That way it is always very accurate as I know exactly what I have said!

As others have said about 20% of the essay should be introduction and conclusion. I would split this into 50 words for the intro and 150 for the conclusion as I always have more to say in the conclusion.
