P&O cruises have there own forum for questions and pointers. Lots of nice people and plenty of information on there. They have a section on each ship with views and tips. Also another on specific cruises and ports of call.

I have friends spending a month sailing round the Caribbean as we type. My next one isn't till next year.

I have been on the Azura, I believe she is practically the same in terms of size and layout to the the Ventura.

A quick tip - take an extension lead with you for charging up camera's mp3's etc. (My camera charger won't fit in their sockets as there isn't enough clearance below the socket and the desk.)

Dunns River Falls is like Oxford Street on the last Saturday before Xmas. Quiet it is not.
  • Dunns Falls was not that busy when we went! It is well worth doing though, but it might not be a good idea to hire a car and go on your own, driving in Jamaica is not advised for visitors! They have a saying, "The left side is the right side, the right side is suicide", has slightly more gravity when you are there!

Glad it was quiet when you went.

When we went there were buses and taxis everywhere and a queue to walk up the falls.

We were on Ventura Oct 09 and will be back on her this Friday for the Caribbean Christmas Cruise, she is an excellent ship with plenty to do and see, i can highly recommend the following.

The White Room, Marco Pierre White restaurant, there is a £25 each surcharge but usually within the first 24hrs on board you can book it for a tenner a head for the next night.

East. This is an Asian fusion style restaurant with a £15 per head surcharge, once again they have specials every so often throughout the cruise where the price for this is halved.

    The Metropolis bar.

There is also an excellent pizza bar where they are made to order and are free, I think its on one of the upper decks by one of the pools.

The food in general is very good and I challenge you to wade through the five course dinner menu every night.

Drinks on board are very reasonable, very much the same as you'd pay at home, we usually buy a litre bottle of Gordon Gin for £12 with a box of the small tins of tonic and ask the cabin steward to deliver sliced lemons with a bucket of ice every day, doesn't get any better than that really.

Funnily enough i've just booked the Dunns River Falls trip with P&O for Boxing Day, were sailing into Montego Bay so its a bit of a hike.

As the other posters have already said have a read of the various cruise forums.

    Hope this helps
  • We did Dunns River Falls on our honeymoon 17 years ago, great fun. Also did a lovely tropical garden tour, sorry can't remember the name of the place.
