Hello
I dont smoke or drink much buthave managed to kick an 'addiction' that will help my pocket and my health - I have managed to give up coca cola! :j
I grew up in a pub so drank coca cola practically every day from a young age so I would buy at least one bottle of coke a day for work costing me 90p a day (£20 a month!) If I didnt drink coke I would get really tired and get headaches (because of the lack of caffine) and anything else other than coca cola didnt taste the same!
I have tried to give it up before but the motivaion wasnt really there, now I am focusing on my spending I do have the motivation and it being better for me is just a bonus!
It has been over 2 weeks now and I feel great, I am drinking loads of water and dont feel the need to drink coke will probably be too sweet for me now!!
So what have you managed to give up that has saved you money? Whether it has been smoking, chocolate, take away coffees or magazines my hats off to you!!! :T

I've given up buying lunch at work - I now take my own every day (so far!). I reckon this is saving me at least £15 a week:eek:
I'm also trying to give up buying breakfast /coffee on the way to work. I've almost kicked it - only done it once (today) this week :j If I stop completely that will be another £15 a week
I can't believe how much I spent - that's ridiculous!

Spending!!!!
Sorry...couldn't resist. I haven't given it up yet, but I'm going to try....
I'm going to stop buying take away coffee. I spend a fortune on that every week. Trouble is we have a Tassimo at home and proper coffee at the coffee bar at work...I'm too used to how it tastes...have been recommended Douwe Egberts as the only instant that tastes close to 'proper' coffee...watch this space!I may be skint but at least I'm Relentlessly Positive!

oohhhh great question Danielle.
I've given up loadsa things but mainly foody things. Like making my own sandwiches, BOGOFS, cooking in bulk. eg I make a tub of tuna mayo on a Sunday and I'll have it in my sarnies for 3 days or on a baked potato. Just wee things like that can make all the difference.
Also I try and walk alot more and save loads on the petrol. And get a tighter butt at the same time!
I'm sure there are loads more.... :j

I'm much the same, I don't drink or smoke. I gave up Sky telly, Amazon dvd rental by post and the lottery on-line about 6 weeks ago. I am saving about £45 a month and of all the things have only missed Sky a little bit - but I am now reading more and even doing a little bit of exercise.
I gave them up when my bank refused to honour my direct debits and I'm really pleased I did.:rotfl: Everything is always marvellous...eventually!:rotfl:0 -
I've given up my credit cards.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I've cut down on Sky TV (we can't have terresstrial TV here as there is no reception at all but of course they still make us pay the TV licence  ). I also gave up smoking but I only smoked 2 - 3 thin rolls ups a day anyway so that hardly saved me anything.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Buying far too many "wants", now I concentrate on the "needs" and don't punish myself for spending every penny when some things HAVE to be paid (like petrol)No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

we have stopped sky.. completely... just after they renewed our digi box as it was faulty:D so now only got the free channels going through it....that works out at £300 a year saving...
we have mainly just cut back....stopped putting so many 'niceies' in the trolley when shopping etc..
oh yes... i forgot.... we have stopped using the light by the front door...as it was allways being left on.... so we stopped using that.... ( because i took the bulb out ):D
ok.... small changes but its a saving.....:DWork to live= not live to work0
