Trying to hammer the best deal from O2 Retentions

I am coming to the end of my 18 month contract with my 3GS, currently pay £35 a month for 18 months with 600 minutes, unlimted text and data.

Quite fancy an Iphone 4, O2 have offered me the same number of minutes and text but 500meg of data which is fine but they are insisting on £199 for the phone over 18 months. Through adding an extra line onto my girlfriends Vodafone contract I can get the same minutes and texts but the handset for £109.

O2 are currently refusing to budge on the price of the handset, despite me ringing the Retentions team twice.

My next plan is to request my PUK code and hope that they might agree to meet me in the middle over the price of the handset.

Has anybody actually managed to get O2 to reduce the price of their iphone 4 handsets?

Do you mean your PAC (Port Authorisation Code)?

Question is why should they as i suspect they have no problems shifting the phone .
