The OP has their electricity supplied by Swalec. What Swalec tariff charges electricity at 50% more during the daytime compared to the equivilent single rate tariff???
Swalec (part of SSE) will not charge a single rate tariff when the customer has a dual rate meter.
I don't care whether you've had thanks from others or not, that is the policy of Swalec.
I have explained to you previously how a customer can save money on E7 . It depends on their particular tariff and usage profile. My house was built with GCH and was installed with E7 from the start ... and I save money using E7 compared to the equivilent single rate tariff.
In short, the average break even point is about 25% night-time usage (although this can vary considerably depending on the individual tariff) There used to be at least one supplier/tariff in the Eastern region that meant E7 would always be cheaper than the equivilent non-E7 tariff - do a search if you are interested, although that has now been changed and the daytime rate is about 1.6% more than the equivilent single rate ... but of course the night time rate is still about half.
Single rate: 12.620p (20.374p for tier 1)
E7 rates: 12.818p (20.786p for tier 1) / 6.588p
Anyway, back to the 25% break even point, with 7/24 almost equalling 30% you should be able to see why it's not too difficult to make E7 pay.
By the way, how can you have the billing data to prove a difference between E7 and the equivilent non-E7 tariff? You can only be on one tariff.
