My Bosch Exxcel washing machine cycle stops after washing, does not spin

My Bosch Exxcell washing machine that is 6 years old stops after the washing cycle and the spin does not work at all. We have cleaned the pump and there does not appear to be any buttons etc stuck.The water gets hot so it is nothing to do with the heater. We presume it is not the brushes or the motor as the washing cycle works OK. Does anybody have any suggestions what is wrong and how to repair it. We are reluctant to get an engineer in with their exorbitant charges for a washing machine that is over 5 years :oold. Is there a simple solution.

we had the same problem. got rid of it, as decided not worth the cost of fixing it, compared to a new one which will be more efficient. It was only last week! If the drum becomes unstable it wont go into a spin apparently. no idea how that happens I'm afraid.Loving the sunny days!0

Do the obvious things like;
Make sure the drain hose is clear and the water is flowing away from the machine.
check the motor belt
Could stilll be the brushes i would check their length.
If you are unlucky it could also be;
Out of balance sensor
Timer or motor speed module
in which case it would be more cost effective to replace the machine.0 -
Try this site - they are very helpful - http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/
We just had our 4 year old Hoover washer dryer repaired. It had started leaking especially when it was drying!?
The guy came out with a no obligation quote - diagnosed the problem and charged us £45 to fix - He was here for an hour. Didn't have to supply any parts but basically took the washing machine apart twice - diagnosed and fixed fault.
I wouldn't attempt trying to fix it myself - you need someone with experience who knows what they are looking for.
I certainly wouldn't bin the washing machine without at least getting a no obligation quote first. The guy who did ours was about 60 so had a lot of experience.

i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, TOOK OOF TOP COVER AND TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE IS A FLOAT SWITCH, IF WATER IS STILL IN MACHINE THIS SWITCH STOPS THE MACHINE GOING INTO SPIN CYCLE, ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS WORK SUCH AS WASH AND RINSE ETC, CHECK FILTER ISNT BLOCKED, IS THE DRAINING PUMP WORKING, NOT SIEZED BY DEBRIS, IF YOU TAKE THE LITTLE PIPE OFF THE FLOAT SWITCH AND BLOW INTO IT YOU WILL HEAR THE SWITCH CLICKING, TRY THESE AND GET BACK IF THIS DOES NOT WORK0
