Owned by Carshaft who are looking to buy good quality stock at rock bottom prices and send anything else to auction.

Good at picking out faults with your car when you take it for valuation.

The infamous "chipping". :D They'll make up all sorts of stuff about your car - "oooh that panel has been resprayed (when it hasn't), stone chip on windscreen an MOT failure (when it's a minute speck out of the field of vision)"

I've valued my car on WBAC to see what happens. They offered £13k, then the next week only £11k was offered, then suddenly it's worth £13k again for this week only.

Their offer for my car was ridiculous - but then of course nobody wants a 2.0 petrol large french hatch :rotfl:

    Thanks for replies,

I wondered if there was likely to be further negotiation on the price once the car is presented as indicated above. I have also googled webuyanycar.com scam and it seems others have had a similar experience. In fact on one occasion the vehicle was not inspected and the offer reduced by over £2,000. In this case there is little point obtaining a valuation.

I note there is not a feedback system on the site as there is on Amazon, ebay etc.

There is an obvious problem in the way payment is made. You leave your car & documents with them and await payment which should be a few days. If webuyanycar.com goes tits up in the few days while you are waiting for your money to arrive in your bank account what chance do you have of getting paid?.

I do not have a problem about them trying to buy your car at a rock bottom price but I do have a problem if they are not straightforward. Thanks for the warning about the admin fee.

In fact the car we are wanting to offload will not be worth much. My 86 year old father in law is buying a new car and we just need to shift his 11 year old Ford Focus.

Unless the Focus is seriously shagged you'll shift it quickly on eBay IMO

i've sold 2 cars on this website...the first time we had no problems at all, got the money we had been quoted online. The 2nd time, about 2 years ago, we got the old there's major scuffs on a few of the alloys one, tried to argue it because we had actually only recently replaced these...however, we were desperate to sell the car, and they were still giving us more than a car dealership.

I was very wary of the money side of it, but it came through both times no problem. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. They leave you in a room when they go to inspect your car, I'd maybe ask if you could go with them, so when they do write down theprice reducing areas, you can see them for yourself.

    good luck!

Chances of them going bust are slim - they're owned by a large dealer group (Carcraft/whoever their parent company are).

I just got an online quote out of interest, that said £1,000. I knew I'd most likely be trading it in at a dealer though, which I did and got £1,000 there too.

Well, it's a quick way to sell your car, but you probably won't sell it for as much as you could get elsewhere, if you are prepared to go down the private seller route.

Sometimes folk just want to shift something fast (deceased relative etc) and speed and no hassle is more important than price.
