Tank lagging

I have a header tank in the loft and went up there last week to check the lagging due to the cold weather. All the pipes leading to and from the tank were covered with tubular padded sleeves so I guess that's ok? Just to make sure I threw an old blanket over the tank as well. Would that cause any problems or is it quite safe to do so?

Yes it is standard practice to insulate the pipes as you say and that should be good enough.I have a header tank in the loft and went up there last week to check the lagging due to the cold weather. The header tank itself should be lagged with a jacket made up of padded black plastic. I believe you can buy these kits in sizes to fit standard tanks, don't forget the lid.0 -
The tank is actually protected by polystyrene boards around and over the top. Will this be sufficient or should I get the black plastic too?0

Ah, is the tank a black plastic type or the older metal type? The tank is actually protected by polystyrene boards around and over the top. Will this be sufficient or should I get the black plastic too?
The lagging I was referring to is normally for the plastic tanks. Don't know if they do them for the older ones.
However using the "belt and braces" approach, better to have too much insulation than too little so if it fits go for it.0 -
Yes, it is a metal one, so 'I'll just throw the blanket over it.0
