Because this person's suicide is directly linked to one of the biggest financial stories of the past few years and this is a financial and economics discussion board (well, it's meant to be anyway).

I'm sure there's a wealth of discussion to be had on civilian deaths in Afghanistan, just not on an economics discussion board.

    Hope that's helped.

Good point about this board, but in general terms it still amazes me

What amazes you? The Madoff story was one of the biggest financial stories of the last few years. I believe his sons worked for his 'business' so one of them comitting suicide is a sad, yet interesting, development of the whole affair.

I'm not sitting here feeling ultra sad for him or his family, as I don't know them all. I can, however, understand that someone committing suicide is a sad and tragic thing and therefore imagine what they're going through, which makes it a sad story.

So Afghanistan has nothing to do with economics?

I always feel incredibly sorry for the person who has chosen to kill themselves. I mean, that death is preferable to what's going in their life...that's a sorry state of affairs, and very tragic. The issues of whether they got themselves into that mess or whether he was innocent is neither really here or there in terms of the human story. Although, I do see him as another victim of Bernie Madoff - his crimes really appal me, just from the sheer number of lives affected and the stress and misery he's caused.

    How sad.

p.s. do we really need discussions about whether this topic is off topic on a thread about someone killing themselves? You can always report it to abuse in the normal way if you think it is better for another forum, and let the non-moderators decide.

I don't buy it. An emailed suicide note, all too convenient! He knew to much and the global elite wanted silence.

The global elite wanted silence about what exactly? Or were you just having a joke about someone who committed suicide?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Sorry I thought this was a hosing forum.

No this is the the housing and economy debate forum and has nothing to do with gardening whatsoever.
  • When you see these sorts of suicides that are financially related, you have to wonder at how skewed our society has become. Given the choice of me and my family being poor and scratching out a living together, or me taking the easy route and leaving my family to their fate, its an easy decision. Money is just a means to an end, its nice to have but its not worth your life.

Daft really, but there you go.
