WOW! That's so good to know! I know they say that you don't have to subscribe to be in with a chance - now that proves it! Excellent! We'll all live in hope then!!!:D
  • According to which? dishwashers can be more economical than washing by hand. Especially if you do my trick of filling up a bowl then walking off and leaving the dishes for an hour (or over night) . I'd like to join the dishwasher club. Need to buy a dishwasher first though. Any recomendations folks.
    Thanks, Alison.

I was very ill about 12 years ago, hubby bought me the dishwasher to save my energy/time and it keeps the kitched looking neater.

At the time I couldn't work, and we has two toddlers, so cash was very tight. I was, even then doing my 'MSE' but without Martin! An offer of 25% off came through the post from Kays catalogue, because I hadn't bought anything for months...due to the fact I was skint. Then a sales leaflet arrived, there was a SERVIS dishwasher for £179.00, less 25%. A bargain not to be missed, especially as I didn't have to pay it all at once, and had the commission too.

The Servis is still going strong 12 years later. Never broken down, by now a couple of the metal prongs have broken off, and the powder drawer sometimes won't shut, but I tend to use tablets instead...bought when on-offer.

I don't think Servis is a particularly good make, and was the cheapest we could get/and afford at the time, but its been my faithful old friend over the years. I use it every day, sometimes twice, it just never fails!

You watch now, the family are here for Easter Sunday dinner tonight....I might have to have them all at the sink...... washing up.....!!!

I think this is probably 'a lucky dishwasher' and when it finally goes to the 'Dishwasher Heaven' I will do some research on the best makes around now.

Coincidentally our dishwasher at work (how spoiled are we?!) died a few weeks ago - it was only just over a year old but the engineer said it may have seized due to lack of salt in such a hard water area.

And I worked for Readers Digest several years ago - the draws always happened twice a year, every year, with the winners meeting Tom and the staff for the big presentation; it was lovely to be a part of it.. As far as I can remember there were quite a few winners who replied No but it just doesn't do Sales/Marketing much good to promote that!
