    Here here Rush.

if I had to have something taken away from the kitchen, it definately would NOT be the dishwasher.

I could probably live without a microwave....

I'll join the dishwasher club as I normally cook for seven people and could not keep up with dishes if I could not load up the dishwasher!

Besides it is much more sterile and hygenic (that is my excuse and I am sticking to it ) :):):)

an excellent point. we have 7 in our family and often have the kids friends round for tea too, if i let the younger ones wash up there'd either be less than half still fit to use and the other half would need to be done again anyway, hubby works hard all day around the farm and even if i could do it without flawing up with excema, im sure i could find much better ways to occupy my time :)

Do you lot use powder or tablets in our best friends?
I was using powder, coz I thought it was cheaper, but now I've got over 160 very cheap tablets to carry on with.

I use the salt as well, but my next door neighbour has never put salt in her 'friend'

LOL, my "friend" has had salt once but i was told by a nice engineer that i didnt need it because the water is generally soft enough in most areas.

I use tablets in mine now, used to use powder but i kept spilling it and putting too much in (not at all money saving LOL)

Ive also read on the boards of others cutting the tablets in half and some using washing powder as well with the same results :) Cant say ive tried it though

Try using white vinegar instead of rinse aid - It works really well for me.

I use use white vinegar as well.

I will try and stop using salt, although I think I remember an engineer telling me years ago to use salt, it prolongs the like of the machine....and my machine is very old!!

Dont know if salt makes any difference or not ? but as i said ive only used it once and my machine is at least 12 years old, and still works perfectly, theres just one problem with it, at the top inside the machine there is a rubber bung/disk thing, not sure if they are in all machines but that as deteriorated over time and i use duck tape now to cover the hole lol :D
