BMW folding mirrors...

Its done so if you have to get out of a narrow garage, they dont automatically open., or perhaps youve parked tightly against a wall.0

My 2004 Z4 had a button too.
It may be able to be programmed off the key fob but that's a job BMW would know more about. There may also be additional modules you can buy (may need to be non-BMW) that activate the mirrors.
I do know that for the convertible it was possible to buy a module that operated the roof from the fob - when the car leaves the factory this is not enabled.

surely bmw fold their mirrors when you lock the doors, even a rubbish 307 used to do that and it had a button to close them so you could get into a garage0

The roof on this 325Ci goes down on the key fob, which is nice when you walk out of the office in the Summer you can let all the hot air out! But it'd be ncie if I could find out about the mirrors...0

Z4 roof went down too....but the 325 , the Z4 or any other BMW won't go back up on the fob.....without after-market module.
I believe it's a safety issue - once the roof starts closing it won't stop so could jam body parts. Electric windows will stop if something is jammed but since the roof doesn't that's why BMW won't do auto closing roof.
But it can be done if you go after market

Found a company that can program the mirror to fold/unfold from the remote, but they are down in Gloucester. Pah! Might speak to CamCo88 up here or DavidPaul BMW. Hmmm...0
