Advice please - Town & City parking

Hello all, just after a bit of advice for my parents who are in their 90's.

They were at Asda in the bad weather and forgot to put their disabled blue badge in the window of the car, resulting in a ticket for a failure to display the badge.

I had it in mind that this was an unenforceable charge but they have already contacted Town & City and sent a copy of their blue badge and saying that they were worried about the ice and forgot to put it in the window.

Can anyone suggest what their next step might be, assuming that the appeal with fail.

Thanks

First mistake was to "appeal". This is a sham process, carried out by the parking company and is bound to fail. From now on do not contact the parking company again and ignore all correspondence from them. No money is owed to the company. Also the blue-badge scheme does not apply to private land.

For further reassurance, please read all the other threads that deal with private parking "tickets". You parents have nothing to worry about from these bullies.

Thats what I was beginning to think - now I just have to persuade them to ignore it ....not quite so easy as they are saying that they would rather pay than face any fuss.

    Thanks very much

There is no fuss honestly, any letters received should be ignored , legally they have no chance of ever succeeding in pursuing this in court so they try to harass people to pay.

Really the letters are nothing but junk mail, they beg for you to pay and should be treated in the same disdain as an email or letter saying you have won the nigerian lottery, you only have to pay £50 to get your winnings!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Please do not allow your parents to be taken in by these jumped up charges that cannot be enforced. The letters can scare people who are not aware of the fact that they are meaningless threats. They sound as if they need a lot of reassurance.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!

Well, I've told them to ignore the letters and just to throw them away but they dont sound very convinced.

I'll have to work on them over christmas.

    Thanks for all your help

Just tell them that you will deal with it on their behalf and letters received need to be passed to you.

It will be interesting to hear if your appeal has been successful. Given that we are talking about two people in their 90s who are disabled. However given the PPCs normal lack of compassion and greed, I would not hold out much hope of it being successful.
As suggested ask your parents if you can deal with it. Then ignore them on their behalf.

ceecee1 - same thing happed to us this morning (except I'm in my 30s and we have no bad weather) - forgot to put out mum's badge. I have already paid up and written a letter to Town & City. Guess I won't be seeing that money again. Feeling quite aggrieved now that I acted so quickly.

    UPDATE (already)
I phoned Asda - if these companies are unenforceable then I thought that I would go to the supermarket itself. Got put through to Customer Services. I explained the situation to a gentleman who offered to put me through to Town & City. Having spoken to a lady, she advised to send in a copy of the blue badge and I would then get a refund. Letter is written and is ready to post. I'll update in a couple of weeks when it should have been dealt with.
