Argos winding me up!!!

Afternoon All,
4 months ago I purchased a tv/dvd combo, 4 weeks ago it had become faulty, nothing too major but faulty all the same. I took it into my local Argos and they said they would send for reparing, fine. Last week I called in to see what was happening and they mentioned that there was no way of fixing it so would replace, again fine infact even better.
So I take Tv home and notice a few differences like where the on off switch was, some other bits added, but these were not an issue to me as long as it does what I wanted it to do I dont care where the bottons are placed. In the meantime my son who used the TV for his xbox returns home and today and instantly notices that the connections that he needs for his xbox are not there (the red, white and yellow is there but not the blue, green and red which were on the other faulty one) and without this we cant get it to work (if anyone knows of how this can be done then please offer some advice)
I call up my local argos and tell them about the slightly different tv and how the replacement was not fit for my use and the cheeky mare told me I would have to buy some extention cable thing, I went on to tell her that the replacement should have been like for like and this clearly is not like for like so either replace with like for like or give me my money back, she then goes on to say i would again have to drag it into the store then they will make their decision?!!?
could anyone please advise on where i stand on this, i would presume as it is not a like for like/unfit for my puropose now and within 7 days that they would need to rectify this??
thanks

Yes they will replace it again. Composite connections are inferior to component ones so they should not supply you with an inferior product.0

Sound like it may be a HD product?
HDMI leads can be had pretty cheaply and can be used on various products.
But, to be fair, no extra cost should be had with a replacement.
Maybe they'll chuck in a free lead.
Makes no difference to the quality anyway, only an improvment in sound.0 -
You sure there are no input sockets hidden somewhere?0

Thanks Bris...
Yes they should replace it, weather they do is another issue, the manager on duty today that i spoke to over the phone is already giving attitude and trying to tell me that i am stuck with it, so want to go in armed with some legal jargon/knowledge, lol
I suppose they are going to use the fact that i no longer have the box as an excuse to not change it also :mad:0 -

Check the manual but it sounds like you're missing the component input that you had on the other TV. It may well have been replaced with HDMI, in which case you'd need to get an Xbox HDMI cable. Either that or ask for a suitable replacement, or possible refund.0

YPbPr is the connection type the standard xbox comes with with a better picture than component connection.
Unfortunately it would appear that the manufacture have decided to remove it when they've changed the TV design. Most trying cost properly to cut costs. Depends how much you like that Tv if it'll end up costing more to get a new tele with YPbPr would determine how much chasing your going to do. I'm sure you would be able to ask for refund now as you've not had a exact replacement, not sure fo teh exact legal jargon contact the CAB
If buying a different tele would be too expensive the other option is to get a HMDI cable get Argos to pay for one.
Oh yeah and in the mean time to get the component connection to work there's a sliding switch in the Tv lead that plug into the back of the slide it to Tv to use the Red black yellow but you won;t get the HD stuff, but will allow your son to play till tommory.0 -
Of course, that requires your Xbox360 to have a HDMI output - not all do, especially if its an older one.0

Ypbpr is component, the connection the new tv has is composite which is the bottom of the food chain as far as connections go.
I don't thik it an HD ready tv, as if it was it would have at least one HD source. I think your getting mixed up with composite and component as the later is a good signal source that can carry HD.0 -
