Probably no outcome... but at least if they're reported a few more times ebay should start to take an interest.
I like to mess with their heads... check the reason he retracted - I bet it's 'bid wrong amount'
Email them and ask when they will be re-bidding as per the bid retraction rules! My TV is broken!

You can cancel your bid if there is more than 12 hours left on the auction..0 -

I had a buyer email me yesterday saying they had entered an incorrect amount and could I help them as they were unsure how to retract a bid - I helped them. I'm not sure why you are so angry about it?
I've had 2 -3 buyers retract their bids before, I don't care what their reasons are. I had to retract a bid on one occassion, I had bid £99 instead of 99pence! People make typing errors!Maybe they just made a mistake?
I get more annoyed with those who win items and don't pay  Evil eBayers! :rotfl:The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

Hi, if you go to the bottom of the bids page, the retraction will be listed there, together with the reason they selected when they cancelled.I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0

Surely that is not what an auction is and I would never dream of doing so!LULUBELLE thanks for that. Have emailed her politely saying that i think she was wrong but oh well, won't let it ruin my day! Thanks everyone, once again the posters on this forum have proved themselves to be brilliant and really supportive x x0

At least they did retract their bid & not become a NPB..could of happened...saved you a lot of hassle in fees, time filling in Ebay forms to claim fees and chasing people up. Bid retractions do happen, I never consider anything truly sold until feedback has been left!0

True... NPBs are a pain in the neck.
What the bidder SHOULD have done was email OP explaining politely that there was a problem, and asking for their bid to be cancelled. Now they've tainted their ebay record permanently instead. My TV is broken!

If they were the only bidder, then you do not know how much they actually entered as a maximum bid. Perhaps they entered a £200 max bid, and realised that was wrong and wanted to retract before someone bid them up!
Anyway, as has been said before - people who retract bids are irritating, but it's a whole lot better than dealing with a non-paying bidder. If people are not able to retract bids, then they will just end up being NPBs.
The only time I get really irritated when people retract bids is when it is obvious that they only placed the bid to find out what someone else's max was. It's hard to prove, but it certainly does happen. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also ...0 -
As explained above, I could see that they had entered £15 as their max bit and seen as the opening bid was £10, I do not think this was an error!0
