I just leave the pump dispensers on the side of the bath. they are old liquid soap dispensers.
and fortunately I still have use of the other hand, I just can't move it anywhere! but I can hold a jar in it and unscrew it with the 'good' hand, as long as it's not done up too tight!
new bottles of milk I grip between my knees, as too heavy for poorly arm. yes, it is amazing how you work round things! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Well I suppose if the Consultant says it will last over the period, then the door opens. Just say to her to ask the Consultant if he would agree with the time frames. If so, place on letter and make a copy and send with application.0

I am with the others on this Bryando, she would be unlikely to need another six months care. My mum had what sounds like the same injury, fell in the garden (wearing slippers!) and ended up with pins/ plates etc. She did have problems for a good few months, but certainly not nine. What I would say is to make sure she gets physio as soon as the cast is off - mum was told she didn't need it, and even though she did get it after asking several times, as a consequence the slight arthritis she had before the accident is now far worse.
She needs to concentrate on getting well, not seeing what she can claim.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Can't put them on the side of the bath has had to have walk in shower put in to allow my husband to be able to bathe a little easier.
Just don't squeeze the bottle with your knees. I now have a vision of you getting milk face and hair wash.

My mum fractured her wrist and ended up having it pinned.
She was able to get back to normal after few months and nothing like 9 months either.
If the op's mother was working is she not getting SSP?

I have no idea what my mum is getting, nothing to do with me. It was me whom said re DLA and her response was she could not as it would effect her badly.
However if in my mums case the Consultant gives an opinion of longer that 6 months, surely there is a claim? The rules being more than three months lasting at least 6 months. So even if the doc says 8 -9 months, still over that required period. Or am I just looking at it too much?0 -

I think you are looking into it too much. Unless there are complications, the recovery period should not be that long. Perhaps the consultant means that it will be nine months until she will be 100%? If that is the case, her ability to meet the DLA criteria would probably only last for half that time.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Why did you think she would qualify in the 1st place?
Unless there are complications then the recovery period will not total 9 months.
What has the consultant actually said another 8-9 months recovery from now. Or a total of 8-9 months from the time of injury. Her disability is most likely to be temp.
DLA lower rate care is £18.95 a week. SSP is £79.15 a week. DLA is not means tested. It does not open up the gateway to other benefits.
The only reason that your parents might get help is due to low income.
HB and CTB are both means tested. If you don't know what what your parents are earning etc. Then you will be unable to help them and neither will anyone on forums.
