Cat litter box - a playground....

We used to have a covered tray but I had to take the top off as my larger cat couldn't fit in to do his buisness properly. I kept the deeper bottom though (main reason for getting the tray as he had a habit of peeing over the edge of the smaller tray) and there wasn't tooo much litter that went over the floor. However, when a #2 was brewing he would cheerfully chuck all the litter over the floor too. My other cat does the same thing - partically when I've just changed the tray. I guess it is the natural instinct to bury their business as they would in the wild (that said she seems to actually miss covering up her #2 in the whole process)
If your cat didn't do this with prev litter, I'd suggest maybe going back to that, or try mixing the two for a while.
Personally I find Catsan quite expensive and use a Mr A or Mr S own equivilant (though never the really cheap clay stuff....very heavy and gets smelly quickly).Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Covered boxes come in sizes for larger cats!
Mixing litter is an excellent idea however - cats do not like change.....0 -
