Hoping to exchange today??????

  • Congrats, must be such a relief to have exchanged:j !

We were due to exchange yesterday and then today, hasn't happened on either day:mad: . My solicitor says it's because we're in such a long chain (a chain of four, thought that was pretty average) and someone further up the chain has been unavailable... I don't know what exactly is involved in exchanging of contracts, but thought that all the solicitors just agree on the terms and conditions over the phone and the deposit gets transferred up the chain....so am really worried now why we haven't been able to exchange in two days:confused:, as it seems like quite a straight-forward process . I really am stuck in the worst chain ever, everything takes donkeys years and nothing runs smoothly.

If I don't hear some good news next week the only place I'll be moving into is a mental institution:mad: .

What a great weekend this is going to be, I have a terrible nagging feeling that somethings wrong further up the chain and the whole chain might fall apart....

Better luck to all you others who are hoping to exchange soon!

All done - happened at 1.50pm!

Exchanged and going to complete on the 30/11/2006. Hoping all goes well now and I am out of this awful property business for a few years. Although I will remain on the site!

very excited but somewhat of an anti-climax since my terrible sale and the stress of that. This felt all too easy.

Will become more real in a few weeks when I have to really prepare.

Good luck everyone else who is looking to exchange today - keep the updates in!

  • Well done! It looks like no exchange for me today, we're still waiting on the vendors solicitor. I wanted to go order a couch tomorrow and raid the M&S 20% off homeware sale. Looks like that's not going to happen now :(

Good luck in your new home

    Thanks everyone.

Mrs S - hope it goes through early next week.

    Good luck for Thurs Pawpars!

My house - don't worry - this happened on may sale and it worked out. It prob is an absent solicitor. It will happen but they all need to be avaliable to make the exchange happen in one day - it can't run over the one day else they start all over again.

Ringo - there will always be more sales.

I signed the contract last Monday, paid my deposit and legal fees yesterday but the mortgage deed still hasn't arrived from Nationwide.  I must admit, Nationwide seem to be a bit useless sending docs out.

As soon as that's here, we'll be exchange then set a completion date.

My solicitor seems to think it will only be a couple of weeks before i'm in my flat. :j :j
This space is available to rent... :D

We signed contract today. Yippee !!

Exchange won't happen until late next week, but I feel much more at peace.

Best of luck to everyone in this rocky boat at the mo.
  • Goldbyron, Can I join your wonderful club of Today's exchangers!!

We were meant to exchange earlyin the week and move today. However with one contract still in post yesterday nothing happened. We finally exchanged at 4.35pm today and are moving on Monday. Yesterday was a nightmare, today is relief. When we get keys on Monday, it will be bliss. I'm still not convinced it'll happen.

Bit of advice.....if anyone is as stressed as I was yesterday, do what I did, go out and get absolutely wasted down the pub - it does help.
  • Hoping to hear from the solicitors today.. we spent all weekend looking for things for the house (our first) and we hope to complete today or tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for today - i wanna get wasted down the pub!
