Are these suitable for a boot sale?

Thanks for the reply. Youve more or less enforced the options I have already been given. Ive got a black bag full of old t shirts i think what il do is just take those down for £1 each, have the rest of the stuff in the car, and if anyone is interested then il take it from there. Ebay and paypal are a total scam put together. They take 15% of the money and I have had paypal investigations into an account that was not even conducting business on ebay. I have even had an account locked down with several hundred pound in, even after providing tracking numbers, getting positve feedback and generally running a good account. Stay away is my opinion.
Unfortunately many of us cannot stay away from paypal as we get far too much income from ebay to give up.
Anyway, back to the question in hand. I think your bag of T shirts may be a good place to start, although I think you are optimistic in asking £1 each for them when you can buy brand new on the high street for barely more than that. The last car boot i did I was down to around 20-25p an item fo rbasic clothing pieces and even then i bought home more than I sold. Just remember though to factor in the pitch costs as well, the last car boot i did was a hefty £10.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hey well thanks for the advice. I decided to go anyway and give it a shot.
Got rid of a lot of my t shirts and jumpers. £3 for a t shirt. £5 for a jumper. £10 for a jacket.
Also got rid of my Ugg boots for a decent price (Above £50) so was all in all a rather good day, considering it was considered to be a very quiet day?
With the Uggs, if you know your shoes, these have all the holograms inside, watermarks on the back and certificates. Not fake at all
And I agree about the ebay Income. But man those people have way too much power. It should be against the law for them to monopolise the market by forcing the use of paypal. What about moneybookers? same thing.
Ah well thanks for the feedback.
Also I have no idea of a dress shop. Are these common things?0 -
Nice to see you had some results
.
They don't force the use of Paypal - they allow paper payments and selected other online and credit card services.
You could also say Amazon and Play monopolise their market by forcing sellers to use their proprietory system."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I cant comment on Amazon or Play as Ive not worked with them (yet lol) but I'm pretty sure its in the terms and conditions of Paypal now that you have to offer Paypal as a payment source...hence 99% of peoples choice. I have to be honest as a buyer I would always demand Paypal, and would really be off put if a vendor didnt like using it. But now being on the other side of the fence I can really see why people hate it. Just a shame cos now Im stuck with stock that i dont have a market for. Any buyers

Yes paypal must be offered on all ebay auctions except those in the car categories. You are however allowed to offer other things like cheque or postal orders in most , but not all categories. As you say yourself no one really uses anything other than paypal though.
Play and Amazon do not allow the seller to choose any payment methods at all, if you sell with them you can only use their payment services.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. hey i know i'm too late, but thought i'd throw my pennies worth in. I've not been to a boot sale for ages, but yeah, generally speaking you are looking for a proper bargain.
BUT...
I am into designer bits n bobs, so if I saw a stall with the stuff you were selling i'd defo be interested...specially the mac make-up brushes!!lol
I wouldn't buy uggs or make up brushes off eBay...it's not worth the risk imo. But at a boot sale you get to have a look at the item before committing to buying....plus, whether we like to admit it or not, it also helps seeing the seller...for example, if i saw some uggs at a boot sale, and it was a grubby old man trying to sell them amongst other stuff like fishing poles and toy cars...i'd be dubious about the authenticity...however if i saw uggs at a stall with a young girl selling other used designer/highstreet branded clothing, i'd be well interested. But I suppose you'd just need to hope the right kind of people were at the bootsales that day.
Anyway, good to hear you got the sale...was worth it in the end then

I should get my act together in the spring and at least go to the local boot sale as a buyer. I don't have much in the way of things to sell (Oxfam just get a lot of the stuff I get rid of, and every summer I fill at least 3 bin-bags with rubbish from my room) but as I've been here for seven years and never been it seems a waste of an opportunity."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Only yesterday I was bemoaning the fact that I have been too lazy to do a final boot fair this year and have boxes of stuff still in my businesss storage. I do have to be in the mood though for a car boot, I do sometimes begrudge standing there for 6 hours and selling endless things at 20p and end up with around £40 at the end.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
