comet didnt deliver today.....

We went to our local Comet branch to purchase a Panasonic TV, we were told the only one they had was a display model but they had brand new boxed ones at several of their other branches and they could get one in no problem, we duly paid cash and a delivery date was given.
We waited till 4pm on the delivery day, of course nothing turned up, you cannot contact the local branch all calls go to some call centre, they informed us initially that as we had ordered an ex-display model they were trying to source one I politely informed them that there was no way we were accepting an ex-display model, the next moron informed us that a new one had been sent to the branch for us but it had been sold to someone else but they could possibly get a new one in the next fortnight.
At which point I went back to the branch who were most off hand and not the slightest bit interested, it was only when I started to tell other customers in a busy shop in rather loud voice what had gone on that the manager came and eventually offered us a full refund.
On returning home I ordered the same model TV online from John Lewis which was delivered two days later, plus a five years warranty, I will never shop at or recommend Comet to anyone again.0 -
Just to contrast, last month I got a new fridge freezer. I rang the call centre the day before to check the fridge was still coming. It was. I waited in, got a call from delivery driver 10am saying we'll be there in the next hour. 10.55am they arrive (at the same time as a mate and someone who'd doorstepped me on my ebay business) The delivery drivers were happy to wait for direction whilst I sorted the doorstepper out. Took my old fridge and then happy to wait whilst I cleaned the fridge space before installing the new one.
My friend a few doors down had exactly the same excellent service from Comet a week later when they delivered her new dishwasher.
My friend a road over again had identical 2 weeks later. He got a phone call 2 days after ordering to delay delivery as they were out of stock of the washing machine he ordered. When it returned to stock he got a phone call every day for 5 days from Comet to rearrange delivery (he never picked up, and never rang them back). They then delivered on a Saturday at no cost to him as it was their error. Again, a phone call an hour before delivery.
My only quibble was that when I went into store to order all 3 products to try to get a bulk buying discount, they couldn't price match the quidco discount, let alone better it. But hey ho, quidco all tracked, good prices paid on all products.
I'll certainly use Comet again.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

thanks comet representative - am still annoyed because;
as the new delivery was tuesday i was going to go shopping monday - suddenly i became aware of something coming through the letter box while i was washing up - went to look and it was royal mail 'we tried to deliver a parcel - please pick it up yourself' - i rushed outside to see the driver pulling away ......he didnt even knock on the door or use the bell.......aaaaaarghghg
anyway i phoned up and they told me they would get the driver to come back but they couldnt guarantee what time.......I wasnt sure what the parcel was so had to stay in to ensure i got it..........it came at 5pm...
when it came it was the laptop....
so - it came a day early but caused me the hassle of not being able to do my shopping as arranged and also having to re-arrange another day id arranged to wait for the parcel (the tuesday as i was informed it would come).......
i emailed comet and got the standard we are sorry you arent happy.....no offer of the delivery charge or anything......a bit of recompense would be lovely....0
