Hi, ebay newbie here.
Just sold an item, and I want to add the postage cost before sending the invoice, but ebay doesn't seem to let me do it, please help! How can I add the postage costs?
Thanks!

If you're using the standard Ebay invoice form DON'T press the re-calculate button, it doesn't work in the way you think it should. If you want to see if you've got it right use the 'preview' button instead.0

You can't - you need to do that when you list the item. After the end of a listing you can't add any additional price on, unless the buyer is overseas - but it sounds as if that's not the case.
It should have made you input postage costs when you listed the item - you can't list without them any more unless it's a collection only item.

I agree, I think you need to clarify exactly what you are trying to do. The postage is usually picked up automatically when invoice is sent as all domestic postage must be included in the listing .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for your replies. The thing is it didn't let me input the info when I was listing in the first place. I assumed I could do so when it came to selling it.
I get that page of 'send the invoice' with the field to add postage and packaging, the drop down menu gives me two 'choices': a)select postal service and b)freight. If I enter an amount in there and click 'recalculate', it does nothing!
Any ideas?
Thanks so much!0 -
AFAIK since the rules changed the only way of listing without a postage option was to do either free postage or collection only.
Where exactly did you put the postage when you listed?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I did the sort of 'comprehensive' listing, and it didn't let me choose postage other than to name that 'freight' was required, but at no point did it ask me to enter a specific amount.
Other items i listed i used 'for dummies' version of quick listing, which did give me a field to enter p&p amounts... very odd... :-S0 -
The unfortunate thing is if you are having trouble adding postage to the invoice at the end of the item listing it's a bit late for this one.

From memory I think you both have this wrong. The freight option let's you add postage to the item description, or a message there to consult the seller before purchase. While this seller may encounter some difficulty with the buyer, you can add to the invoice under the discount bit, daft as it sounds, and put a positive figure in there. It's a while since I've done it. It was on items which I offered boxed or unboxed with a premium for boxed.0
