The property i have had an offer accepted on isn't registered on the Land Registry, so it seems i will have to get the solicitor to register it for me, thus costing more money!
Should i ask the seller to sort this out? Problem is he's and elderly gent and i'm not sure he would want to bother.

There are lots of houses that aren't on the Land Registry - specifically those that haven't changed ownership since the Registry was set up. This is perfectly normal and is not a problem.0

Yep, solicitor said he will sort it, just will cost extra.
Just out of pure curiosity, the are can only get broadband at 1.5mb down a BT phoneline, is it possible the other companies don't know the houses exist? Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

re the broadband, the speed you get it to do with your distance from the exchange, sky, talk talk etc all rent lines from bt so you will be able to use these providers but they wont give you a faster connection as it isnt possible. if you don't have cable in the area you will be stuck with this speed for a couple of years until BT upgrade to fibre optics.Aug 24 - Mortgage Balance £242,040.19
Credit Card - £8,141.63 + £4,209.83

Find yourself a house on a cable network.riverboat2001 wrote: »Hmmmmm, bit of a shock though coming off my Virgin 50mb connection:mad:

Thanks once again G_M, the rest of the house is perfect for what we need (masses of parking) in the right area (near to Mum) and a good price (needs lots of tlc)
so i guess i'll just have to bite the bullet. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

Not fibre optics - but my suggestion is to investigate the reception of a Broadband Dongle ?0

Investigate the reception for the different networks on a mobile dongle. It will not be optics by a long way!0

yeah, we have those for surfing the net whilst on holiday and at work, BUT they won't / can't cope with xbox live gaming and downloading large files. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

You could ask the seller to instruct his solicitor to register the property at HM Land Registry but that will only delay matters and your solicitor will still have to investigate the title (albeit it would be registered).
There is more work in dealing with an unregistered title both in investigating it and in doing a first registration at the Land Registry - speak to your solicitor though about *how much extra* and perhaps get quotes from other solicitors to see how your proposed solicitor compares.0
