We're all missing the most important thing here. It was bad enough when people switched to diesels and every other car sounded like a 10-tonne tractor even though it was only a Fiesta, well now every other car is going to sound like a milk float...
What will the boy racers do if they can't put silly exhausts on their entry level shopper-hoppers because they're all electric and they can't install silly sound systems because they'll drain the battery instantly?
And imagine the smell in the summer with all those burning electric motors :mad:0 -
I belive the U.k price is going to be £23,300.
The battery can be 80% charged after half an hour and it also charges as it's running.
Like it or not i think they are going to become more common in lets say the next 5 to 10 years0 -

Probably try overvolting the electric motors and other silliness. And imagine the smell in the summer with all those burning electric motors
Good point. Isn't that smell ozone, which when it's emitted low to the ground is actually a pollutant.0 -

And add a pathetic electronic dump valve lol!. Vehicles have amassed a massive multi biliion economy from upgrade parts etc. Eleccy cars will kill that imo.If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -
They're getting a good reception from motoring journalists. See here - Nissan Leaf reviews
The biggest problem that electric cars face is diesel engines. There are so many diesel engines that get great mpg and cost very little in road tax. They're also a lot cheaper too.
I can certainly see the attraction of the Leaf, but not at that price. Plus there are some worries about depreciation.0 -
I'd be genuinely interested to see anyone thinking of buying a Leaf crunch the numbers against, say, a diesel Focus. Fuel, tax, insurance, depreciation (you can't CONFIRM 47% 3 yrs in the future, but let's go with it)and maybe have a guess at running costs.
It seems to me that to make the far higher purchase cost worthwhile, you would need to be doing a very high mileage. Except for that damn 100 mile range. And 8 hr charging time. You would probably need to drive, charge, drive, charge for a few years....
And who's still buying this hydrogen myth? Oh yeah, it comes from water, and water's free! Water is NOT free, and getting the Hydrogen out of the water is wildly expensive!0 -
Has anyone tried nuclear fission cars? They worked in Captain Scarlet...0

The more electric cars on the road, the more tax you'll pay on your electric bills...... Do you really think the govt will be happy giving up the 200%+ tax on petrol/diesel??
We'll all suffer in the end......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I forsee electric parking rage. People will get to a supermarket and find all electric bays occupied, or a non-electric vehicle parked in the bay. Then instead of shopping and going home, they'll have to wait in the cafe for a few hours whilst their car charges. The man without a signature.0 -
