£995 for a week in Kitzbuhl travelling by coach, are they serious ?, my wife thinks it's reasonable, but strikes me as outrageous, OK everything is included but I was expecting c£750, would welcome any views.

Dont forget that on these type of trips, the teachers who go with the kids are usually travelling free of charge, and therefore the cost to your child has to be loaded to cover these 'free places'. Also, there are other things to look at too. if it is a private group organised by the school, you will have to hire the coach for the full duration of the trip, and then there's also the drivers accommodation / meals / expenses to look at too.
And chances are, it's gonna be kids school holidays too - always the most expensive time to travel.
well it was this way when i was at school, so not sure if it's changed since.I used to be a Travel Agent Used to be a travel agent for 23 Years, but now out of the industry. However I will help with what i can.0 -
Yes, I hear what you say, it is in holidays and they will be hiring a coach, just that the last trip they went on was around £750 a couple of years ago and we are in a recession now !
Thanks0 -
 Of course, the trip is optional - they don't have to go.;)[0

BP, £750.00 a 'couple of years ago'.........
yes, we might be in a recession, but look at the facts.
staff wages have still gone up.
fuel prices have gone up
£/Euro rate has gone down
Insurance costs have gone up.
Unfortunately, thats just the way it is.

The procedures for organising school trips are very rigorous. The teacher's 'free' places will be included in the price provided by the travel company, and anything else added on by the school has to be carefully costed and OK'd with the school finance officer. Anything left over at the end of the trip should be distributed back to the parents.0

I think you're very cruel! My way of thinking is that the 4 of us in our family could have a week's holiday in spain for £900 and my kinds have gone on the residentials in this country and luckily been happy with this ... so far!0

School skiing trips are nothing but a rip off and put children and parents who can't afford them in a very awkward position.
They are just an indicator to children who can and can't afford to go. Either that or parents take on a debt that they really shouldn't.
These trips in state run schools should be banned.0
