    Afternoon everyone!

Well its a whole 2 degrees here today! Hasn't been in the plus figures for well over a week :j

Just on work lunch break, forgot my lunch again so will have to pop out and get something to eat. I hate buying shop sandwiches but I'm starving! :o

OH is finishing work early today after doing a few late nights so he's meeting me from work and we've decided to treat ourselves to an indian takeaway. :D;)

A very lazy evening planned, takeaway, wine and love actually on the tv. We're up early tomorrow to finish off our Christmas shopping so not too much wine, don't fancy fighting the crowds with a banging headache! :rotfl:

Well best get off and buy myself some food, I'm wasting away! :D

    Have a great day all!

I'm glad your Dad's operation went ok, Polly.

Light rain here today and the roads didn't look too bad so decided to walk to the library which is a mile and a half away. The pavements were a nightmare with slush and ice. I'm still shaking.I walked on the road where I could but it's not possible on the main road as it's so busy and there are cars parked on both sides. At one point I was pulling myself up an icy slope by holding on to railings. That's it- I'm not going out again until there is no snow left.

I shall stay in and do some scrapbooking. I'm making DD1 a mini scrapbook of her wedding (I hope she's not reading this-I think she mainly lurks on the gardening forum)

Leek and potato soup for lunch. Pork and apple pie for dinner-a new recipe so hope it's ok. While the oven is on I shall make a date and walnut tray bake as we have loads of walnuts from our tree and will try the stollen recipe from the Pink Whisk Blog.

I may be busy today or I may lay around the house in my underwear, haven't decided yet, so so so pleased to have an empty house at last.

:rotfl::D just remember to keep the curtains closed!;):p:D

thanks for the good wishes for DHs interview - I cant wait for him to leave his current job - he's so stressed by it all the time. Not sure when it is - they're posting the details to us. He's also going to a recruitmnt agency near us too plus looking on the internet at the direct.gov site.

My breakfast was lovely, unfortunately Lesley's daughter didn't make it as her baby is poorly. I had a big vegie breakfast. Did a bit of shopping afterwards and came home and washed my filthy car so I can see out of the windows and dont getdirty everytime I open the boot.

DH just come home for lunch after an 11 and a half hour day.

wmf - good luck at the races, we're watching it on tv. DHs had an 8 to 1 winner:j

where is everyone? very quiet here today!

    Afternoon all!
polly, glad your dad is well.
npm, hope yesterday was fab, i'm sure it was :D
taplady, that's a lovely tradition and good luck to your OH in the hunt.

The university craziness is over for today, I semi-bombed a coursework which has "why" written all over it as apparently I can't even assume the basic addition laws(ie a+b=b+a 1+1=2!) of mathematics in my proofs! And then probably bombed an exam! Oh well, have to get over it and crack on with new courseworks and revising for my exam next week, and my end of semester exams!
I'm late on the band waggon, but have decided to start "blogging" in my spare time, it'll make a nice breather between work. Knowing me it'll end up being largely about beauty bargains and diy, i've already called it "filthy cheap" :o

Got a huge spud in the oven for lunch, will ahve it with a mashed avocado and cherry toms I got cheap at the market :D Dinner will be light, soup made with fresh chicken stock and maaaaybeee some fresh bread rolls.

    Afternoon peeps

quite a lot warmer here today, been keeping an eye on the outside temp and its started to drop already

My little plumbing job is done :j:j:j

I went to three places for the part that i needed and none of them had the right one so i ended up having to go into the city centre which i hate doing as its mad with all the traffic and shoppers and left over snow etc.

When i got back i spent a good while up the ladders twisted around at an impossible angle with my nose poking in between the water tank and the ceiling with some rather large spanners and now i have the water back on and up to now NO LEAKS :D The valve had gone in the cold water tank and the overflow had run and all the water had frozen inside it, the tank overflowed into the airing cupboard and soaked everything in there :o thank goodness for my massive stash of bath towels as they soaked it all up :p

Anyhow its all fixed and adjusted so i`m really pleased, the call out for the plumber would have been £50 at the cheapest without parts and labour and i`ve managed to fix it for less than a tenner :D

The bathroom now needs a very good clean and then i can get on with things in the kitchen and start to prep the food for later, we are having massive toad in the hole with sage and onion, veg and onion gravy. I always do the huge yorkies in the remoska so they are 8" in diameter :D

Pollys - Nice to hear that your Dad is doing so well

Taplady - Good luck for DH

    Wmf - Enjoy your trip!

JackieG - Hope that you`re enjoying your lounging :D

I`m off for a quick browse before i start scrubbing!

    Have a good afternoon peeps.

Just waiting to hear from my brothers partner as to how his op. went this afternoon he is having two stents put in as he has arterial blockage in his heart so I said I would wait until she phoned tonight, as getting through to the hospital is a nightmare as I speak very little french, and they speak even less english.Fingers crossed all is well.
