Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning All
Where is everyone?
I couldn't find the thread so forgive me if I have duplicated it.
Plan for today is to go to buy a new freezer
All my veg and cakes and veggie food defrosted yesterday so it will be a use it up couple of days.
Dinner tonight is turkey stir fry
Have good days all x

Morning Butterfly and all who follow.
NPM, Mr NPM and Noah, hope you had a fantastic day. Many, many congratulations and all our very best wishes.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts re my dad. He has had his operation (prostrate) after a traumatic morning . He arrived at the hospital with mum at 7.10am and had to wait until 11.30am for a bed. By this time he was very upset, and panicking incase it was cancelled, he is 75 next week and has had a catheter for quite sometime and not coping too well. Op was done late yesterday and at 8pm was sat up eating fruit and nut chocolate. He still has a catheter for a few days but he is a lot chirpier. Big sigh of relief from the family.
My DD arrived home from uni yesterday till Sunday, I'd forgotten how untidy she is LOL
Planning on pottering around today doing some tidying up.
Snow is thawing fast.
Have a good day, hugs to those who need them.

Morning all
Still dark outside so not sure how cold/warm it is! Forecast says it's going to be warmer, but I'm not holding out too much hope! DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock so no coffee in bed for me this morning.
DS1 had a nice birthday yesterday as usual had lots of lovely gifts.
I'm a proud mummy this morning my youngest completed his 800 metres swimming award yesterday, he said he wanted to do it then had a severe attack of self-doubt and it's taken alot of persuasion (sp) to convince him to try and if he did it great but if he didn't it was ok to have tried and not quite managed it. We're so proud of him, he works really hard and doesn't get particularly good results, he's now beginning to become more confident.
Dinner last night was stew and dumplings, mash and veg, a change from the menu as we'd had sausages the night before.
Was reasonably productive yesterday, housework done, washing, drying and ironing, will need to change beds today, do any washing from basket, food shopping, baking/cooking, take library books back, write xmas cards, wrapping of xmas prezzies - feels like I'm working/doing stuff at home all the time but not getting stuff done, today I must focus and get it done! I think if I can be productive today that may help, just push myself along and get stuff ticked off the "to do" list.
Will be heading to the bank and the scales shortly, really hope I've managed to lose something this week, not really sure what I'm going to do if not.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus,
Laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky,
Looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus,
Asleep on the hay :xmassmile
I love hearing kids sing this.
In my calendar - a Christmas pud.
Morning :santa2:
Pollys, glad your dad is doing well
Yesterday, I left the house at 9.02am, bought all the presents and was home by 10.36amI also bought myself a couple of things and gave them to mr tru to wrap and give to me for Christmas
Thorntons have run out of chocolate coins  I dont want euros hanging from my tree thanks very much, I want proper old English pennies, Thorntons seems to be the only place that sells them.
All my kitchen units are in the garden, I'm waiting for the plumber to disconnect the hob today then I can take the last one out. Then I can get stuck in to removing the last of the plaster. I'm still struggling with removing paint from bricks. I've got a wire brush attachment for the drill, hopefully that'll work. Today I will be covered in white, red and green dust. How very Christmassy
No idea what to do for tea, as we'll have no kitchen. Might nip to the chippy.
Today we've paid off another debt :j Four down, two to go.

morning!
NPM - hope you all have a fab day yesterday! x
Pollys - glad your Dad's op went ok x
Butterfly - shame about your freezer - might have been ok to leave it all out in the garden:D
Today I'm off to Ludlow for a big breakfast with my work mates. It is becoming a tradition which I began to celebrate the life of my best friend Lesley who died 2 years ago this weekend from ovarian cancer. She loved an all day breakfast so we have a big one in her honour:)
Her youngest daughter is also coming this time which is nice.
Later I'm hoping to do a bit of shopping as there's some nice little shops in Ludlow - no big chain stores except Boots and Tesco.
I got my decs out yesterday and the lights dont work - they were only cheap and I've spent ages fiddling with them to no avail so am hoping to get some more plus a few new decs.
DH has decided he cannot continue as a milkman - its just too much for him now - he's applied for another job and has got an interview so fingers crossed! I will be so glad if he does regular hours as we both suffer from lack of sleep due to his job. He loves the job but the company give the men no support at all.
Not sure whats for tea tonight yet - got some leeks to use up so something with cheese sauce probably.
Have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning All,

Pollys glad it went well, and dad is doing OK.
Tru thanks for the song, its my absolute favourite and guaranteed to bring a tear to my eye.
ButterflyBrain, happy shopping, party at yours?
I may be busy today or I may lay around the house in my underwear, haven't decided yet, so so so pleased to have an empty house at last.
Back later! Hugs spoons and Hi5's all round the houses.

Pollys - so glad for you re your dad's op. He will feel so much better.
Taplady - fingers crossed for your DH's interview.
JackieG - lovely decision to have to make!!:rotfl:
Ok just a quickie from me as we are off down south for a couple of days. DH's birthday treat - trip to Cheltenham - will have to study form;). Mind you, my bet money consists of £2 coins I've saved in the last couple of weeks so I am not looking for anything life changing:p
Look forward to catching up with you all when I get back.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSJMSnj6UUM A little something to get you in your groove this morning. It is Friday after all
Plans for today are to the usual, play with kiddies, tidy round and bathe my poorly eyes. I am allergic to the kitty and when I rub my eyes after fussing her they itch. Well I could have scratched them out last night - silly me forgot to wash my hands. They feel tired, sore and gungy this morningBit like the rest of my body actually - back is tetchy, got a snotty cold coming :rotfl:
Having lunch at local Harvester with some of the mums from school today and then this eve it's the school Xmas fayre so might drag the kids along for a nosey
Not sure about tea, will probably be too stuffed after lunch :rotfl:
Polly - Glad your dad's op went OK. Hope he's more comfortable now xx

Bargainbird - Oi Missus where the heck are you???
