i bought a 2gb ram local product with i5 processor--your posts helped me decided. İn Turkey they use all sorts of discontinued bits and pieces in assembly so i expect there are p4s and celetrons about!!- i paid 350 quid for the full package including monitor(modern 19 İnch)-i got a 50quid voucher for a future purchase-so 300 really
-it always makes me laugh when i see beko ads on European channels as it is definately an inferior product in the Turkish market place--it is 2nd quality and its 1st quality 'co' product is not marketed abroad- its called arclike- --the uk gets the chaff and there are some decent quality electronics made in Turkey but they arent usually exported because the home market is suffcient because all the imported goods are highly taxed and people are corralled into buying 'made in Turkey!!-maybe the uk might have an industrial base if it had the same approach!!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -

. The i5 is a great cpu.
Interestingly, there is a lot of good work coming out of Turkey on the Open Source front. I have used the following Linux distro before, and hardware detection was simply excellent.

When you buy Ubuntu pre installed, you find it is very easy to use and live with, it has been developed for ease of use, and it gets better constantly. It does not need training nor experience.Enterprise-D wrote: »Althought Ubuntu and Linux are good Operating Systems, they are not really intended for novice users, especially without any prior training or experience in using it. Non-technical people struggle to get along with Windows, let alone a completely different OS.
When you install a system from scratch THAT needs experience. In that experienced area, I find Ubuntu very much easier to install from scratch than Windows.0 -

Avoid Intel P4's and early Celerons based upon the P4. They heat up like crazy and use large amounts of power.
Intel Core 2's, or newer i3, i5 & i7. AMD K10 Cores. See these links and anything further down the page for details
