Hello
Im new to this forum so my apologies in advance if this thread is in the wrong place.
I have been recieving a number of unsolicited sales calls from Charitable Publication Company most saying that I agreed to advertise in there charity mags a few months earlier. I know I did not place the orders and there all asking for money now.
I have heard that The Advertisement Protection Agency (TAPA) are the ones to join to stop these cold-callers and scammers. I was just wondering if anyone in this forum is a member? Does TAPA really do what they say they do on their website?
For a £79.99 set-up fee plus £9.65 a month after that is TAPA really worth joining or is it just another lost cause.
Look forward to hearing you thoughts
Best Regards,
Jason

You should never pay money in an attempt to stop cold-callers. That's a scam in itself. At best they'll take your money and register your details with the telephone preference service (something you can do yourself for free). At worst you'll end up on even more scam lists.
Use the link above and do it yourself. And incidentally, where have you heard that TAPA are the ones to join?"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Will the next post be praising TAPA?
Never heard of such organisation and the TPS does it for you for nowt
You need to tell the company that you wish to be removed from there list and not to call you again as there legally required to and sign up of TPS.0 -

Im not going even entertain them, I know there scammers because when I ask for proof of the order (i.e Telephone Transcripts, Invoice and artwork) he got really abusive on the phone to me, shouting down the phone and calling me a liar about not receiving any artwork from them.
Plus He was really put out when I asked for his full address as though he did not know it or had to look it up plus. Even then I had to really coax a full postcode out of him and at that point he was say I was taking the !!!! lol
That does not sound like a professional telephone manner you would expect from a real legit company. Im going to ignore his abusive phone calls from now on, and if he phones again I will be report his number to the police.0 -

A mate of mine who was getting the same problems after he opened his business. He joined TAPA right away as soon as he start getting phone calls.
Unlike him I did the same but with the TPS and so far they seem to be a good job. I think the difference between the 2 is that TAPA also offer legal representation (apparently included in the fee), and they tell you how to reclaim money lost to these scammers
I did lose over £200 pounds between 3 possible scammer before I signed up for the TPS.0 -
I've just googled TAPA. They're a much wider-reaching outfit aiming to protect businesses from unfair trading practices. They actually mention the TPS on their website. For your purposes, JasonC, i.e. I assume you just want to avoid scam calls, the TPS and MPS should be fine."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Thank you
I am currently trying to claim the money back from the original scams I fell for. I have sent a recorded letter to each of the 3 supposed companies requesting proof of the original purchase by Telephone Transcript or a refund as suggested by Trading Standards.
I have yet to recieve a reply, but it is only early yet. I was just wondering if anyone knows how to how to reclaim any money lost like TAPA suggests if these companines dont reply.0 -
If they're scams, you might well find it difficult to get any money back. Post some more details and hopefully people on here can help. What did you think you were buying? What were the companies? How did you pay? When did you pay? etc. etc."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

Are you automated? You said that before
