    100g of self raising flour,
    100g of caster sugar,
    100g of butter,
    2 medium eggs,
    2 tbs of cold water.

Seive the self raising flour into a bowl, beat the eggs together and mix into the flour, cream in the butter with the sugar and agg to the flour, puting in the 2 tbs of cold water, and whisk until light and frothy.

Place in a tin and into a preheated oven Gas mark 5 for 15mins.

This is what i go on to make cup cakes anyway, is the same mix isnt it!?!

Couple of other ways to do it, which are frugal on paper/ink:-

~ at the top of the thread you will see "Thread Tools", click on that and there's a drop down menu with "Printable Version" highlighted; you could use that and it will open a 'printable' page = no pics, strict formatting. ;)

~ you could 'copy' just the recipe bits and 'paste' them into a word (or whichever word processor you use) blank document, change the font size/type and only keep those bits which *you* want to keep; save the document, that way you always have it ready for reference, print off one copy and file it as a hard copy with your other "printed off" recipes :D

carrie - I'm delighted you enjoyed the biscuits :T :T

mookybargain - thank you for the recommendation :o :T :T

How are you mixing your cake? With a mixer or a processor or by hand? Because if you're beating it by hand you may not be getting enough air into the mixture to make it spongy and rise well. You need to cream the butter and sugar together until they are nearly white in colour before adding the eggs and flour.

frugalfairy/Lucie - I used a mixer and also flora marg (original) and I got a flour which is for sponge cakes that you can get, so it wasn't the ordinary flour.
