Christmas bank holiday - days off
Comments

I just smile and take what they give me.
I work Wed, Thurs, Friday
3/5th of full time work and 3/5th of bank holidays
I dont worry about Bank Holiday Mondays or Tuesdays.
When bank holidays fall on a Thurs or Friday, I get the day off.
In actual fact when i worked full time i used to start at 8.45 an now when i went part time I start at 9.00 on the same 3/5th salary so
in effect I am being paid 3 hours every month extra so nearly a full weeks pay each year. I dont think my boss realsied it but I am quite happy with that .make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I just smile and take what they give me. Whilst I understand entirely your sentiment, I would hate to go back to the times when the workers lined up in the morning and were either given a day's work or not on the whim of an employer and expected to be gratefiul. Unions have thankfully given employees some rights to negotiate - although it seems you did a pretty job on your own!0

I didn't mean it in that way at all, i remember my father telling me he had been in that position in his early years. Those times should never return which is why we have employment laws most of them biased to the employee and rightly so.
I smile because I am doing a job I love, i get well paid for it and
its a real family orietated company who look after us, sometimes to the extreme and not just in monetary terms.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

but the bank holidays could just as easily have been Thursday and Friday? Seems very arbitrary to me.
In 2014, Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, so then it'll be your turn to get the two days off.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

From my wealth of knowledge you would ony be entitled to anything if you were actually working a day that was a bank holiday eg the monday after xmas day but as you dont work mondays then you shouldnt get anything0

You are only entitled to 5.6 weeks paid leave per year, you only work 2 days a week so this equates to 11.2 days.
Anything you get over and above this from your employer is a bonus for you regardless of when bank holidays fall.
(the employer is also entitled to round the figure down if they so wish so 11.2 days becomes 11 not 12)Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
Full time workers get 30 including bank holidays, if OP gets 12 days including bank holidays.
Ie 12/2 = 6 days per day worked each week.
OP when you get Good Friday off this is taken out of your 12 days, correct?
Start from the full time
OP says 25+BH so that is 33, 2/5 is 13.2 days the OP gets 13 so is owed 0.2.
the OP actualy gets 3 days for all the BH not 2. one is used for good friday
If another BH falls on one of the 2 days worked and it is taken off it should use a days holiday.
They cannot round down under part time worker protection and less faivourable treatment.

is part-time the same as being part of a job-share regarding this?0

Yes, I missed the 25 days earlier in the thread and assumed her 12 days was a correct pro rata: and as you can see above I agree her initial starting calculation is wrong and should indeed be 13.2 days.
She should not, however get TIL for Monday/Tuesday under these circumstances."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

Jobshare is the same thing. Part time workers are not to be treated less favourably when terms are set."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0
