Hi all
I'm a long time lurker on this site and right now
Could do with advice if anyone is kind enough
To offer.
Basically we have been renting for 4 years from the
Same private landlord.
However this year we have had people at the door looking for her
In regards to debt collection etc.
When we called her about it, she said she was
Cccs and it would all settle down soon, which it did until this week.
We have had two representatives from the mortgage company at our
Door looking for her and then today a solicitor representitive for the mortgage company asking about my lease
And told me they are trying to trace her?
I can't get a hold of her on her mobile
But my question is rent is due in Monday, do I pay her, to keep myself right?
The second person at my door said she has a buy to let mortgage
I'm in Edinburgh
I hope someone can help
What should I do
Anyone know how long we will have here?
Thanks Betty

If she has a buy to let mortgage then she's not falling foul of the mortgage company for renting it out so that should be fine.
Keep paying your rent - they can't just turf you out even if she defaults on the mortgage - there is a long process involved and even IF it comes to it then you should still be provided with notice to leave as per accordance with your tenancy agreement.
Anyone who comes looking for her just direct to her real address and they should soon leave you aloneDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

If you have a signed agreement you should keep to it and pay your rent so you are covered, im sure the debt collectors will catch up with her in time, though if you didnt pay it im sure she will call you, one way to get to speak with her i suppose, and what if it was an emergency, she really shouldnt ignore your calls, id seek legal advice from the CAB or something0

I'm suspicious of the fact that none of these people have your LLs home address.
I'd be looking for a new place and holding on to my money until I knew the full facts.
Sounds worrying.0 -
Thank u all for your replies
I'm also suspicious as I had a post redirect on for her
A few years ago and I also don't know why they don't have her home
Address??
It was the solicitor who told me it was buy to let but after reading online
I'm suspicious also I have to post other mail on to them
I just don't want to part with my rent And them find out I'm having to move.
I have 3 children
Also solicitor who came around said bank would appoint someone to take rent for them, they won't tell me anything over phone and solicitor at the door said they would write to me.
Sorry for the blabbing on, just don't know what to do
Thanksx0 -

Cab told me to at her so she couldn't turf me out, but how can she if she has problems with mortgage
Company?
A rigth mess this is
Thanks0 -

Hi
It appears that she doesn't have a buy to let
Mortgage after all
Mortgage company said after a bit of persuasion on the
Phone, anyone know what I do now
I know this gives me even less rights

Starting saving for your onward move should be your first priority. If the property is repossessed you will have to move but it could take months before that happens.0

I'm hanging onto my rent right now until she contacts
Me, I'm not stupid and I havethe wheels in motion for a move
Elsewhere, just need until feb, hope I can ride the storm until then.
Does anyone know how the eviction process goes if she decided to do this to us and would I still manage to stay here until feb
Thanksx0 -
See the Shelter Scotland's website about the process for repossession of a property by the mortgage lender when a tenant is in place. Speak to them to get extra advice.

In Scotland, all private landlords are required to register on the Scottish Landlord Registration scheme. If she's trying to fly under the radar, chances are that she hasn't registered as she should have.0
