Cost of replacing leaking gutters

As others have suggested, it's difficult to estimate. If it's a modern house with simple half-round plastic fittings such as 'Osma', the fittings are cheap. If it's a listed building with cast iron gutters and difficult access things get more complicated and therefore are likely to more expensive. Generally with plastic fittings it's pretty straightforward as long as the gutterboards that the fittings are screwed to are sound.
If these need replacing consider uPVC - the fitters will probably put your guttering back up too.
If replacing with timber consider waiting until the weather allows the timber to be properly primed and painted before the new guttering goes up.0 -
This is an issue with us at the moment. We live in mid terrace house (circa 1901) in Bradford and both front and back gutters need replacing as the wooden ones which have been on for a long time have rotted.
Had 2 quotes so far both have quoted the same price, £250 front, £250 back = £500. One quote was for replacement wooden guttering and the other was for UPVC. Going to get a few more quotes, but could be going with the same roofer who has just installed me a new velux window.0 -
Well as my luck goes the big thaw has just made a ton snow fall of my roof all around the house. The result is about 10 metres of gutters are now under it all. Just been to price it all at a B&Q and I can pick up the parts for about £40 including brackets (plastic stuff). Luckily I am able to DIY it so no other costs and should take a couple of hours. Bearing that in mind then a builder can't really justify a large bill, so if the problem is similar to mine then £100 should cover it.0

Are you sure you don't you mean the soffits? I've never seen wooden guttering.0 -

No it's not soffits, It is actually wooden guttering, all the houses have this in my street, apart from the ones that have been replaced by UPVC. The guttering sits on stone lintles and is then secured in place. The front and back have cast iron down pipes.

TraceyCommon in places that didn't have stone guttering, before cast-iron became more widely (and more cheaply) available.
Thanks.I'd never seen or heard of them before. Have since Googled and now feel stupid.
