Cost of replacing leaking gutters

Hi everybody,
I'm in the process of buying a (terraced) house in London and the home buyers report threw up a few problems I was aware of but also one I wasn't expecting :(. The gutters leak and need replacing. Anyone has any idea how much that will cost (everything included)?
I need to know in order to make up my mind whether to proceed with the purchase at the agreed price or not.
Thanks a lot

They might not need replacing. I had cast iron gutters in my last house and we managed to get them repaired.

Think theres alot of Scottish people that will be in the same boat here, due to the weight of the snow all the guttering is falling down :(

His guttering is leaking, it hasn't fallen down, and all the guttering is not falling down.:p

OP I would consider phoning a plumber or two and asking for a rough cost in your area, and as jackieb said if it is cast iron it may only need repaired.

The gutters are fairy inexpensive for the materials. The problem is finding someone to fit them for a reasonable price. Check the local window cleaner as a lot of them do gutter cleaning and repairs.

He was talking about replacing it though, which is what alot of people round about me need to do...

The guttering is all falling down well where I am anyway, your obv lucky!
  • Thanks to all,
I'm actually not sure whether they need replacing completely or not. I just wanted to make sure the cost wouldn't run into the thousands, thank again

No definitive reply without knowing the size of the house and the extent of the problem.

Yellow pages, yell.com for a roofing contractor, plumber or window cleaner who does this, and get estimate.

And if you get a chance, pop round when it's raining and see where they're leaking. It's likely that a home buyers report will say 'will need replacing' because they're covering themselves. They may just be gunked up, not many surveyors will get up on a ladder to check them, usually ground level inspection.

NOT a plumber! It's DIY or a builder or roofer.

Probobly just be the joints leaking or poor alignment making water not flow to the downpipe and overflow instead.

£20 DIY or £75 for a local chappie (at a guess).

Couple of hundred to replace? (but complete replacement is usually uneccessary - you bound to be able to salvage most of the guttering.)
