Sign in Tesco Mobile area today says the £10 sim only deal finishes on Sunday 9th January.

Ooh, looks like I'll need to be quick then.

If I was to buy one now, could I still port my number over when I get my PAC code on Feb 1st? or do you have to port your number over at the time or puchasing the Tesco SIM?

    Thanks

P.S. Is there any reason why Tesco list an iPhone SIM in that list (fom the 1st post) which costs £15/month, compared to the £10/month SIM which as far as I have been told will work perfectly well with an iPhone?

The only difference I see is that the iPhone "specific" one has 1Gb of data, compared to unlimited (500Mb) for the £10/month SIM, but the iPhone one has 250 mins compared to 500 mins for the £10 SIM.

My contract is up on 1st March, so presumably I can request my PAC code on 1st Feb.

The Tesco SIM deal sounds better than the o2 Simplicity deal as you get more minutes for £5 less per month. Unless I am missing something obvious?

No you aren't missing anything. I was really just pointing out that the £35 is only because it includes the phone and that a traiff can be had for £15.

You should be able to but it's worth checking with Tesco first.

The data allowance is the main thing.

If you possibly would go over 500Mb you're better not to be on this tariff as anything over that allowance is charged very heftily at £4/Mb.

I asked about this in my Tesco store and was told you would need to pay another £5 a month for Blackberry Messaging.

I received my Tesco £10 SIM a couple of days ago, and popped it into my iPhone 3GS, and everything (well, calls & txts) works fine. Just need to port my number over now, and that's a very nice deal.

Just one quick question. Do I need to change any APN settings? I assumed that when I activated the SIM in the iPhone, Tesco sent the APN settings via a txt, but I just wanted to check, as I don't want to end up with a whopping data bill next month.

    Currently, the Cellular Data is:

    APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
    Username: tescowap
    Password: ********

    MMS is:

    APN: prepay.tesco-mobile.com
    Username: tescowap
    Password: ********

    Does that all look correct?

    Thanks.

tesco sim only deal is currently at 250 minutes and unlimited texts for GBP 10. this was 500 minutes till last month. These deals donot work with the blackberry service as this service is not subscribed. I too purchased a blackberry after an employee in Tesco told me to get the blackberry separately and that with an additional 5-00 pcm, I will be able to use blackberry with this deal. unfortunately this did not work and I was stuck with a new blackberry and tesco sim only deal. So I called customer services at tescomobile. They stated that i can use operamini browser to browse the internet but not the blackberry service i.e. email, messenger, facebook tab etc. (though i can access these via operamini). The guy then said that Tesco will provide an upgrade to the sim only deal with Blackberry services in early March and that I should not leave tesco. He apologised for the mis information given at the tesco store and stated that this should not have happened. However he reassured me that the blackberry sim only deal was definately going to come out and that it would be better than what is available elsewhere. Whether this is a marketting gimmick or the truth, I don't know, but I am waiting....

the prepay.tesco-mobile.com (APN) and tesco.wap (username) for cellular data and MMS is correct. The password is ''password'' for everybody!

clearly the employees at the stores either have no idea of the facts or are blatantly lying to rope in customers .... I doubt the latter though
    :(
