Asda Voucher Books Are A Scam

2

Comments

  • Its not £3 cheaper the original price was £6 then it was put up to £8.98 to coincide with the £3 money off voucher, id rather have the original price than the voucher booklet.

So no I dont want more money off it, I want the original price of £6

Well here is some news for you ..

All shops change their prices regularly.. If you were not so dim in the first place when you went to ASDA you would have got it at the cheaper price.

I do note that you claim they only put it up to coincide with the vouchers yet when you had the vouchers sent to you it was at a cheaper price then.. Your fault. Deal with it and quit your moaning !!!!!!
    one of the famous 5:kiss:
  • They do seem to do it with other things in the voucher booklet. My Uncle was complaining that the whisky he usually buys had suddenly gone up by a few pounds just as the vouchers were valid.

Reminds me of how my local Tesco always seems to put their petrol up by a couple of pence whenever they have the 5p off per litre promotion, so you're only really getting 3p off. When the promotion ends the price drops back again.

whats REALLY annoying is the fact that the items that actually have a decent reduction and haven't had their price hiked.... have empty shelves!!!!!

Plus i was going to get m-i-l some dish washer tablets as I had a voucher and it seemed a good deal, but it worked out cheaper to get two smaller packets, as they weren't in the voucher booklet, but they were on special

you wont get the original price of £6,

either buy it from asda or get it from another s/market

The vouchers are a reward for shopping in their stores, before the vouchers, anyone could buy the powder for £6, now its only available to loyal customers. If you had your book with you last week then you would have had a double discount. Your loss im afraid

Is this the original price? or was it reduced for a week or so on promotion to £6 then price changed back to the original price of £8.98?

That tends to be because they put things on offer and trade buyers and people with storage space clear the shelves hence why restrictions are in place now with most supermarket promotions to stop people doing it, however there's nothing to stop people going in and out of the store and buying more if they haven't got anything better to do.

It's also worse at this time of year as shelf space is a premium for christmas lines so the extra aisle space used for promotions is full of extra lines not usually instore, one suggestion is to go in earlier as stores tend to fill up on twilight/nightshifts so the earlier the better, whilst not the most ideal way of doing things if the supermarkets put stacks in the actual aisles to compensate for lack of shelf space customers lose the ability to see where they are going and walk into the stacks and trip over them when they are lower in stock later in the day and try to claim compo.

Whatever you want to call it, scam, ripoff etc all the items in the book have had their prices hiked so that you are not actually getting a bargain.

If you look around and use a calculator you will often find that there is another identical product that is a far better price.

One example would be the 160 tea bags that came with a monkey (cannot remember the price), on the shelf next to them were 240 for £3.
Doing the maths, the 240 worked out far cheaper if you did not want a stupid monkey.

When I was dragged along with the wife & mil the other day I saved them lots of money by using my eyes, brain and a calculator.

Which you would have got it at if you'd had your voucher with you.

So you are saying it's a scam aimed solely at people who have left their vouchers at home and come back another day?

Yes I understand what you're saying but in this case it's not true.
We visited two different stores over the course of the two weeks the offer was on. we visited each store several times, and at differing times. The shelves remained empty for the whole two wks. However a visit on the day after the voucher had expired showed us a full shelf!!!!!
