Anyone else on Orange £5/month tariff?

Orange launched their £5/month tariff on 1st June 2009. It's a 36 month contract and comes with an additional free handset after 18 months.

I'm due the 18 month handset quite soon - I was wondering if anyone else is on this tariff, and what they've been offered - or just been sent - as their 18 month handset.

There are very few places, other than directly with Orange, that seem to offer this tariff, and the Orange shop only have the Nokia 2330 or, peculiarly, the Doro 410 for new customers.

I notice the tariff description refers to the 18-month phone being a "replacement" and not an "upgrade" so I imagine I'll probably get another Nokia 2330, which is what I signed up with. They have no reason, or obligation, to send me anything better, so probably won't.

Anyone received their 18 month replacement? What did you get?

    I'd forgotten about this thread.

The total silence suggests no one else here is on this tariff (not surprisingly).

I had to ring up to request a replacement phone - was not contacted by orange when I got to the 18 month point. I was offered a list to choose from and went for the Nokia 2730 classic which I successfully sold on ebay for £42 (surprisingly). I sold the first one for £20 and got £50 quidco cashback (it's been £30 since quite soon after I signed up) so it's come in at under £2 a month over the 36 month term, which will do for me.

The operator I spoke to specifically said that it did not in any way affect my contract, which will continue in exactly the same way. The contract end date is exactly the same when I log into online billing.

  • I rang the Indian call centre this evening to enquire about my 18 monthly upgrade.I was initially told I was not eligible but after calling Orange every name under the sun,I was then told I WAS entitled to an upgrade. What a company!
