Hills were fine, except I was overly cautious coming down them and probably didn't need to be.

Only thing close to a problem was coming down a hill where someone trying to come up previously had compacted and polished the snow into ice, increasing stopping distances.

i have these on one of my cars but im not brave enough to challenge snow using them lol

I'd be scared to drive those R888s in light drizzle, never mind snow!

    Quite.

888s are barely legal slicks. At a recent owners club run I was struggling to keep up with the guy in the Skyline on 888s (very twisty NSL B roads, no speed limits broken) until we got a bit of Welsh torrential drizzle and then he couldn't keep up with me. :D

That Skyline has been retired for the winter too, unlike my car.
  • What car is that? Looks like a big American thing. :)

You from lovely Bargoed then Lum?

It's a Nissan Cefiro SE-4. One of the rare 4WD variants of an already rare car that few people bother to import because you can get a Skyline for about the same amount of money. Mechanically it's basically identical to an R32 Skyline GTS-4. More info and pics in this thread, though I no longer have those wheels, and it has a bigger, shinier exhaust and better brakes.

The fact that it looks like a big American RWD barge isn't lost on me, and it got me quite a few puzzled looks from the Landy drivers up in the Brecons.

And close. I'm near Blackwood, about 5 or 10 minutes from Bargoed.

Yeah I know the whole area well got family in the area so I'm up there regularly. Been taking the little girl up the Newbridge Memo recently cos she's been in a panto.

I've heard Bargoed is pretty bad, one of my colleagues has been catching the train down into Cardiff to get to work. Mind you I was in Caerphilly yesterday and it isn't too clever there either! :)

I'll be on the lookout for your car from now on it looks pretty recognisable. Like something the FBI drive! :D

I had the Friday off work as the company Mondeo doesn't have winter tyres and it wasn't going anywhere. As I mentioned I'm not insured for commuting in the Cefiro, so was forced to have a fun day out in the Brecons instead. What a shame!

It's only recognisable if you're a car enthusiast. To everyone else it just looks like an old ex-taxi. On the way back from the Brecons I can park it up in the McDonalds in Merthyr and all the chavs pay it no attention whatsoever. Perfect!

What 5 minutes of snowfall did, while we were taking pictures of the waterfall.

More on my GF's Flickr and a second batch of pictures to come later.

So, where did you get them from, and how much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Got them from MyTyres, but the price has gone up massively since I bought them as I guess supplies are getting low.
