d. Your one pearl of wisdom: Give yourself one treat a month. On payday, once I'd made my payments to the debts, I'd give myself £10 for something I wanted rather than needed, such as a few drinks with friends or a new item of clothing. It may have extended my debt paring by a month but it kept me sane!

d. Your one pearl of wisdom: Read your bank statements and continue to use SOAs. All of this helps to change your attitude towards money.
I recently slipped up and started spending again. I have now read my bank statements, made new SOAs and have a firm grip on my spending again, I hope. I just need to keep up these new spending habits! It's so hard though, when you are used to burying your head in the sand and denying that you have a problem with spending. I am determined NEVER to get into debt again and to change my attitude towards money generally. Oh and I've started to save YAY!
Good luck to all those who are still on their debt free journey.Pay off all your debts by Christmas 2025 no. 15 £0/69490 -

Lightbulb moment: July 2006
Debt at highest: £24,500
Debt-Free Date: January 2013
Pearl of wisdom: It will all be worth it in the end regardless of how rubbish you will feel at times. Make sure you learn a lesson from having to pay back your debt, no point going through all the hard work to be back there again! I am definitely a lot better with money now!0 -

LBM july 2010 (flickerings many times before! )
Debt Approx £6000 overdraft and 2 credit cards
DFD 25th jan 2013
how i did it: new bank account and paid a little off OD in old one every month.
taking out a weekly amount of cash for groceries and petrol,
meal planning / shopping out of storecupboards was a biggie for me-think this was the major change actually. I now scour my fridge, freezer, cupboards, bathroom cabinet and cleaning drawers weekly then make a list!
best questions to keep asking youself- "do I really need this now,can I use something I already have instead, can I make do without?
Massive thanks to all on this site!LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0
