a. The date of your lightbulb moment- October 2010.
Virgin raised their minimum payments and that was when I hit the wall and had nowhere else to hide. Thanks to MSE I discovered DMP's and that was it.
b. Debts at their highest £34,043
c. Debt-Free Date 14/12/12- It feels amazing
d. Your one pearl of wisdom- Leave your debit card at home and pay off everything you can on the debt. Reduce your outgoings MASSIVELY. Search for the cheapest line of everything you buy and throw the extra on the debt. I never say "its only 20p.."
e. And if you had a debt diary on DFW, a link to it - Just read everyone else's and that helped so much.LBM Nov 10 owing £34,043 - (DMP with Stepchange)

A bit late getting to this one but here I am:-
LBM - August 2010
Debts at highest - about £5k give or take
DFD - 23/11/12
Pearl (s) of wisdom - do realistic budgets and stick to them, write down what you spend and check online banking daily, PAD (hugely motivational), don't disregard shops like A1di or Lid1 - I saved so much money through shopping there and still do.
Diary - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2628201It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Well Done Delree and Polesalot.
Have a great Xmas I hope to see you on the savings board!0 -
Lightbulb moment: April 2010
Debt at highest: 16700
DFD: 31/12/2012
Pearl of wisdom: Use money where ever possible. Get rid of all your spare change at the self service check out you'd be amazed at how far the small change can go. Meal plan, less food goes to waste. Know where every penny is going to, keep a spending diary.
Diary: No diary, but thanks to every one that does they were a great motivation.LBM 04/10:j
Debt was 16700Debt free 04/13 :j

a. The date of your lightbulb moment: Sept 2010, and then again in May 2011 :rotfl:
b. Debts at their highest: £7750
c. Debt-Free Date: 01/01/2013
d. Your one pearl of wisdom: Give yourself one treat a month. On payday, once I'd made my payments to the debts, I'd give myself £10 for something I wanted rather than needed, such as a few drinks with friends or a new item of clothing. It may have extended my debt paring by a month but it kept me sane!
SxI have enough money for the rest of my life... as long as I never have to pay for anything again!
