Lightbulb moment: January 2007
Debts at highest: £12500 (this was a single loan - I had credit cards, store cards, catalogue accounts and an overdraft as well. I didn't realise it was my lightbulb moment and so I can't remember the totals for everything. I didn't find MSE until the following year).
Debt-Free Date: 1st December 2011
Pearl of wisdom: Join the PAD thread. Budget and stick to it. Make up a spreadsheet to keep track of your money. Go without stuff that is not necessary. Above all else, hard work and determination is the key. NEVER GIVE UP.

Pearl of Wisdom - learn to budget properly and watch every penny you spend, you will be surprised where it goes.
I know we were very fortunate to be able to pay this off, although it has meant the very sad loss of my MIL. We sold her property and it completed today so it is with very much love and thanks to the wonderful lady who made this all possible. Love you and miss you very much MIL xxx
Never again will I have credit cards or debt!
Congratulations!!! :beer:0 -

Well Done :beer:0 -
Lightbulb moment: December 2009, although I did fall off the wagon due to cut backs in work and dropping to single shift working, which threw the budget out of the window
Debts at highest: £18000, credit card debt managed to scrape this down to £9492.02 up to July 2011, when luckily work picked up
Debt-Free Date: 20th January 2012
Pearl of wisdom: Joined SPC in it's second year, got some great tips off people regarding, snowballing, which told me in July 2011, I would be debt free in 36 months (July 2014). Also quidco has been a god send along with consumerpulse & some of the survey sites. Also the advice to check your bank accounts every day, I've not paid a single bank charge since joining the MSE site, so Thank You Martin for setting it up. Also a great big Thank You to everyone who contributes to this site with their wisdom and help, I couldn't have done it without you.
Luck enough for me, work started booming & I've done 12 hour days 7 days a week for the last 6 months (had about 21 days off in that time) so the overtime has helped me to pay off all my debt, I've also booked a week in New York for the end of February, paid cash! Where I'm going to tell my lovely wife that we are debt free.
So once again. Thank You one and all for the help & support.Sparky0107 - Sealed pot challenge member #002. Total for SPC3 £1,030.57 Total For SPC 4 £2247.00 Total for SPC 5 £2574.62 :T Total for SPC 6 £4552.91:T
