Internet car purchase
I bought a "new" car from an internet car supermarket - uk-car-discount.
What could go wrong. The car did turn up ok with 200 miles on the clock and driven from Liverpool and very muddy.
I had to wait several months for the registration document though and now it has me as the second registration after several months - 1st registration is a car hire company (I assume a trading name for the seller).
It means that looking at the registration it appears like I have bought a used car which I assume will affect the resale value - especially as it looks like an ex hire car.
Also I had it insured as owned by me for this time - does the registration affect the owner?
What do you think I should do about this.
Not been a good experience in general.

You have bought a pre registered car by the look of it.
It has two keepers on the log book so in theory be worse less. If the car is written off in the first 12 months your insurance will not give you a new car.
Check the small print in your contract and contact the company, see what they say.0 -
Slightly off topic, but I would never buy a car where a trade plater has to drive it miles to get it to me. They hoof them down the motorways without a care.
You should of insisted on it being delivered by a transporter.0 -

Pre-reg is quite usual when buying from a discount on-line car warehouse. It is part of the price you pay for getting it cheap.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

I wouldn't be too keen on the thought of someone fetching my new car 200 miles either, as LeeUK has pointed out I'd have visions of someone thrashing the pants off it the entire way.
I'm a very suspicious, distrustful and paranoid person mind...

The OP did not have to accept delivery of the car, he/she could have rejected it at the point of delivery.
If the car was described as " new " then take the matter further, because it was not " new ".0 -
To be fair, a 200 mile drive at this time of the year is going to make any car look "muddy". Mine when from clean and sparkling to grey and filthy after my 15 mile morning commute, let alone 200 miles of salty motorway.0

I also bought my car on-line.
But I knew it was pre-registered. It said "new" too. In detail it said it has 58 reg on it though. That is why I paid £2.5k below it's ORP. You loose some you win some. Mine was brought to me by transporter and I only called with the final payment on checking the vehicle over though.
I was scared stupid about buying a car over the internet, but given that I paid deposit on credit card (though I paid 3% extra fee - ie £15 which I believe is worth it for the sense of extra security) and didn't need to call in with the rest of the payment until the delivery I decided to go for it.
It is a part of getting car much cheaper - ie it being pre-registered. Mine was 58 reg when new 09 was out - so they needed to get rid. The reg means nothing to me, but the money in my bank do!!0 -

Honestly? They don't. Most are middle aged blokes who don't give a toss It'll maybe have done 80+ down the motorway but it'll have been in top gear.
I don't know where this fallacy has come from but its just that, a fallacy.0 -
Well it was new with delivery mileage. I expected that (not the dirt but that's not an issue).
What I didn't expect was it to be registered to a car hire firm for 6 months.
I checked the ford site and it says the manufacturers warranty goes with the car not the owner so it's not a problem.
The seller says
"This process is a very common practice in the automotive industry and in no way invalidates the vehicles warrant and nor does it have any impact on the vehicles residual value."0
