S&S ISA - capital protected?

Hi,

Im looking to put in the whole £10,200 into a S&S ISA. I was wondering whether there are any S&S ISA funds that are capital protected and you can have instant access or fixed for only 1 year?

I don't think you understand what investing in stocks and shares is all about. You need to research risk and reward long before you start gambling with £10,200.

No stocks and shares can go down.

You can get GEB (guaranteed equity bonds) which are capital protected and linked to the stockmarket.
However you won't get instant access and they tend to be poor investments.

If you want instant access then you need a cash ISA.

    Hello, rakesh,

The S&S ISA rules do not allow capital protected investments which run for less than five years.

There are some partially protected OEICs. Structured products can meet the requirements of cautious but not absolute guarantee. As CC says above, you cant have absolute guarantees in that period. Just selected protections.

On the instant access side, as far as I am aware any S&S ISA has instant access albeit sometimes with a short delay for the funds to be sent to you by cheque.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Yes, but generally the advice is that you should be looking 5 years plus, because volatility could mean you have a capital loss short term.
Capital loss looks like a concern to the OP.
