Cancelled Sky what are my options?

OK, so I've spit the dummy with Sky, when they wouldn't offer me a deal I've gone ahead and set cancellation, what I'm wanting to know now is what are my options? I don't have any cable in my area and freeview is pretty pathetic on it's own but I don't know of any other providers, what they offer or how they work, can anyone suggest any options for me.

Thanks

    OOO just gave a suggestion i the other thread we were chatting in. Sorry you got to that stage with sky :-/

    Free sat from sky is probably the best way to go at this point as you already have the box and just need a card (unless your old card will automatically revert - I am not sure).

    Give it a few months and they will be asking you to come back I am sure. Sorry I cant be anymore help.

  • Just to note that there are no recording functions if you only have FreesatFromSky.

    If you're OK with going back to basic channels, then you're best option, IMO, is Freesat. There is a good choice of boxes, from a basic SD box at around £30 up to Freesat+ HD boxes at around £200. Once you've paid for the box, that's it, no further costs involved. Some of the boxes have BBC iPlayer and ITV Player is being advertised as coming soon too.

    Have just read it, thanks and think I may take your advice and ring them again tomorrow.

    I've been out ot Tesco's looking at the FreeSat boxes, do they offer anything other than the normal freeview channels and I noticed you can view BBC iplayer and wondered if you could stream from the net with these?

    They do not even offer the same channel line up as Freeview which as you will no doubt know is only available via a TV Aerial.

    Freesat = Freesat Channels.

    Freeview = Freeview Channels.

    They are different.
  • I would recommend Top up TV, you can get a box from them that records and HD if you like, the minimum package is £12 a month, but you can add sports and movies if you are into that. I have always found them polite and helpful, and although the service is not as extensive as sky, it greatly increases the choice from the standard freeview, plus you get the recording function.

    I actually bought my box from Ebuyer, for £45, so I am not contracted in to topup- you just give 30 days notice to cancel. If they give you the box you are tied in
