Hiya everyone
I'm newbie to this board, but found it very interesting, has any one got any advice about choosing a cruise holiday or perhaps a cruise & stay.
We're thinking about the Carabean early December this year, we have not done crusing before and don't know anyone personally who has so we're at a loss as to how to begin planning and booking so any hints & tips would be very wecome.

Ok, if u dont mind me asking is your ages?
some cruises are more suited to people in say their 60's-
and more are all rounders etc..
As a newbie to cruise i would suggest Ocean Village- they are superb. they are very relaxing cruises. you can eat whenever you want unlike othercruise where you have to chose 'early or late sitting'
there motto is 'cruises for peolp who dont do cruises'
they are very relaxed as well.
i have sent several people on an ocean village cruise and they have loved it.
you can fly from most UK airports and do a 7 or 14 nt cruise you even do cruise and stay if you want. they cruise in and out of barbados!'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
early December you are going to get some good deals.
Any idea on what sort of ship you would like? Ocean Village is informal with no set dinning or the other side of PO like Oceana with set dinning and foraml evenings.
Do you want pretty beaches or maybe more sightseeing maybe trying to get a cruise that goes to islands where there is more to do than lie on a beach all day.
Whats your budget? If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Hiya Jillie1974 & saveapenny
We're in our late 50s I had quite a big op in September this year so we opted for the idea of a cruise as we thought it may be more relaxing which is what we need at the moment as we're both still recovering from the anks and worry of my op.
My husband would not be comforable in a tuxedo or tie & jacket for dinner every night so one that is'ent too formal would be best.
As for budjet !!! cheaper the better but not something like 'easy cruise' !!!!!
don't really know what is a bargin in terms of crusing in the carabean, any ideas on a reasonable price?
Thanks for any advice offered :T0 -
Try the cruise specific website cruise critic, it's got a forum nearly as big as MSE just for cruises0

I would definitely recommend Ocean Village then!
they do have a captains night when you can dress up but the other nights are 'smart casual'
the last time i looked in work- about 2 weeks ago- prices were approx £800 for a week, they maybe cheaper now, also depends if flight seats are left.. for 2 weeks you are prob looking at about £1000. i would check on their website or your nearest travel agents'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Hiya ringo
What a great web site you suggested, loads of info just had a quick look when I got your reply, so need to go back and spend more time looking at what else the site had to offer.

np annieb, i did my first cruise this summer around the med with my gf (everyone thought we were on our honeymoon as we were on of a handful of couples under the age of 30). Price was £1079 for 2 weeks, inside cabin on a nice high floor.
We went with Princess, which i'm told is classier than Ocean Village.. OV sounds a bit chavish from what i've heard
If you want to save quite a bit of money, go for an inside cabin, rather than a balcony. Whilst we slept like babies during a storm, the people who'd paid twice as much got woken up by the thunder0 -
Royal Carribean............................. Nuff said, check it out.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Hi Annieb
I can recommend P&O or try Queen Mary, if you don't want to dine in the restaurant on formal nights just book another place to eat.Even eat ashore if in port or have something at the cafe ,go to movies and a show then have food at midnight.Or roomservice!!!
With P&O you'll be picked from the airport and transferred to the ship, no hassle.
Enjoy youselves
