heating or not heating

Hi,

I just came back from a studio flat view. It`s a surprisingly cheap flat, and I really liked it as well, but there`s no heating in it at all. No radiators, no convector... nothing.
The agent told me that the landlord can provide oil filled radiators.

I`m a bit afraid of all these electric heaters, oil filled radiators, electric cookers... I got used to of gas heating and cookers.

I don`t even know how much money should I calculate for heating with these oil filled radiators... are they expensive to run them?

Can anybody tell me an approximately price for the heating at the end of the month with these oil filled radiators? I`d like to use them mostly in the evening hours in one room...

Thanx

  • A 3KW rad will cost 30p and hour on full at 10p per unit. If you have a thermostat and timer the cost could come down to 11p per hour but it will depend on how warm you like the room, how large it is and how fast heat is lost.

The main thing is whether the insulation is any good.

For a studio with decent insulation, I would expect £2~3 a day, including a shower and cooking. If you average £2 a day for five cold months, that's £300. £3 a day is £450.

The rest of the year, no heating costs, so £1 a day, £210.
So you are looking at £510~660 a year.

If the insulation is bad, £1,000?
